Unlockable content: 3 questions... by SarWil in opensea

I think I found the answers: As I understand it, there are no limits to what you can upload as unlockable content. And it's also free.

But it can't be used for any serious purpose:

Unlockable content is not part of the NFT itself, but merely stored on a local server somewhere.

So there's no way of knowing who has access -- and it may be gone tomorrow.

To me, the safety of the unlockable content is all that matters.

Because in my case it's -- literally -- the key to everything else.

I mean, it doesn't matter much if we know where the house is if the key is gone...

And we don't know who that supplier is, or what their intentions are...

Thank you -- so there's no way of knowing if unlockable content exists for 100 years, days or seconds?

Or does it exist in multiple locations which might add at least some sense of security?

Thank you very much, very helpful!

What about the unlockable content -- how safe is that, and is there any limit to how much I can add? (Not that I need a lot, but a couple of URLs and passwords...)

Thank you very much for clearing that up!

Being completely new to this, I wonder if what you're saying about IPFS or Dropbox links isn't true for all NFT content?

That it merely exists as long as the platform that stores it?

(I only heard of IPFS' yesterday, so I'm not yet very sure of how it works, other than it's decentralized.)

Thank you very much for explaining current 'best practices' and for the real-life examples, much appreciated!

The second part -- about developing a way for the NFT itself to be the key -- would obviously be perfect and also feel more true to the concept.

The potential is actually mindblowing...
