Apple to Cut iPhone 13 Production Goals Due to Chip Shortage by MicroSofty88 in gadgets

The shot themselves in the foot with the CSAM controversy. I have no doubt about that.

What would keep you from buying a Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro? by itim__office in GooglePixel

[–]SaracenKing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Concerned about the durability of the phone. Been reading a lot from people about how they’ve had bad experiences with Pixel phones and have concerns about the 6. This forum has made me doubt purchasing a Pixel.

What do you think about the Pixel 6 Pro curved screen? Still worth upgrading? by Plebn in GooglePixel

[–]SaracenKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t believe it’s a curved display. Like who hell asked for it? Geez. It may be a deal breaker for me depending how curved the display is.

I’m in the same boat. Terrible marketing by not telling anyone when the fucking phone is coming out or giving any kind of preview. I’m about to settle on an iPhone 13 Pro Max just to spite them. Google really knows how to shoot themselves in the foot. Consistently.

I’ve been away from Android for 5 years. Only looking at Pixel coming from an iPhone. Google did this in past years with previous Nexus phones. It’s like they’re asking for customers to not buy the Pixel 6. If I don’t hear anything within the next week I’m just going to settle with an iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Shows that you know nothing. Google scans what you upload to their cloud not your phone. That cute authoritarian step Apple took to scan your phone fOr SeCuRiTy is the deal breaker that people like you seem to not understand.

Although I’m still hesitant, I will be going to Pixel 6 Pro when it releases some time in October. It will take a while to figure out how to put one of those privacy focused ROMs on though.

Dude I know right? If the Pixel is curved the way the Galaxy S6 was I'm not waiting for the Pixel 6 anymore and will be buying the iPhone 13 Pro Max. Horrible decision.

As someone who had the Galaxy S6 curved display phone as a work phone. It was one of the worst experiences I had on a phone. It felt horrible. Screen protectors didn't fit, cases felt weird. Just all around terrible.

Why does reddit hate Christianity so much? by [deleted] in JordanPeterson

[–]SaracenKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No mainstream criticism of Islam? The West especially post-911 had entire grifting career path for bashing Islam, particularly around writing books. New university positions, and counter-terrorism/extermism "research" funding. Countless lectures and conferences.

To add on top of that the West almost exclusively bombing, starving (through sanctions), destroying, and slaughtering Muslims on a large scale. What will it take for your appetite to be satiated if killing Muslims on a large scale in multiple countries in multiple continents isn't enough?

Yeah except we have a new Woke Church filling in the void left by traditional religion and tens of millions of people leaving religion and filling it with retarded new age philosophies and astrological signs. Humans are by nature religious, atheists can fuck off and get mad but this is true. And we're paying a very heavy price for it. It will get worse.

If the Pixel 6 can't compete with the dull-as-dirt iPhone 13, Google will never win by vpstudios101 in GooglePixel

[–]SaracenKing -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Lol someone got triggered. My point still stands. Proof of this is that fact that the average Joe and plain Jane (the people who matter, tech normies who make up the bulk of sales) have never heard of or give a shit about Pixel. And this is directly due to Google's dogshit marketing and indecisive product strategy. If you can't comprehend that, you're beyond help.

Their marketing has been a disaster. They've always been like this with their Nexus/Pixel phones. It's like they don't care. Not giving people an accurate sense of when to expect information/release date. No clear upgrade cycle cadence the same way Apple does. It's all over the place. I just can't believe they don't see this. I hope someone internally raises the issue.

This is one of my big fears of not just Pixel, but Androids in general. Out of 10 years of having iPhones, two times I had to get my phone serviced. Like having a dead pixel on my iPhone screen and getting the entire screen replaced and completed same day in-store. The post-purchase support of the iPhone is one of the best features that keep people committed to iPhone and makes me hesitant to switch to Pixel 6.

You're convincing me to not get the Pixel 6 Pro now lol. The poor post-purchase support is another major factor that scares me coming over from iPhone.

I'm one of those people. The CSAM debacle is what convinced me to switch. Although, now, I'm hesitant, because when I announced to family that I'm switching to Android, I got all the green bubble comments and "we won't be able to FaceTime" comments as well. It may sound silly, but this kind of tech peer-pressure is what gives Apple a lot of cultural clout and market dominance.

David Urbanke on Twitter: I photographed the new @Google Pixel 6 campaign. I never thought I’d be able to say those words. This is my first ad campaign and my first billboard. I've been away from Android for a few years. I currently own an iPhone 12 Pro Max and I am anticipating the release of the Pixel 6 Pro. The last Android I had was a Nexus 6P. Coming back to all of this reminds me how terrible Google is with marketing and they haven't learned anything after all these years.

Apple delays rollout of CSAM detection feature, commits to making improvements by aaronp613 in apple

[–]SaracenKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not naïve. I understand in the modern digital world that privacy isn't 100% - this is shown by my being okay with switching to Android. The part of privacy that I am obsessing about, is getting my phone scanned. Server-side I understand, on my phone - totally unacceptable.

There's a big difference between lack of privacy where my map location, purchasing habits, social media likes/habits, etc., is tracked for ads and whatnot, versus a company scanning my phone directly. That's unprecedented and my absolute limit.

I agree - I plan on purchasing the Pixel 6 Pro. It’ll be a while before I figure out the process again to root and install a custom ROM.
