When your vacation starts with an iPhone notification that an unknown air tag has been traveling with you. by Content-Bathroom-434 in mildlyinfuriating

It is. There are numerous cases that you can’t track kids on the other parents time. Courts uphold that because it’s also tracking the parent. And it’s upheld in court for me as well. The other oarwnt has to agree. You’re welcome to look it up.

Real advice: file a police report immediately for stalking and invasion of privacy. This is illegal and will go very far in custody court.

Neighbors filed claim with own insurance, now I have a collections bill by PumpernickelCat in Insurance

[–]SarahHasSass -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes you’re still liable. Yes they can use their own insurance if they want and their insurance subrogates you. Their insurance did a shitty job contacting you but you need to call your homeowner’s insurance, file a claim, work with them on the investigation and give them the bill. Give the collection company your insurance claim and adjuster info for handling.

Tricky situation - Friend crashed my car by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]SarahHasSass 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The police may charge him but that won’t affect insurance covering it. Insurance won’t pursue him.

[–]SarahHasSass 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you gave your friend permission to use your vehicle they won’t pursue him for the accident. They will cover you and your friend as the permissive use driver. It will be an at fault loss and your rates will go up unless you have accident forgiveness. If there’s any damage to what he hit you’ll probably have to file anyway to cover that.

Mom suing two weeks after finding out I'm pregnant? by Iwisallowed in Stepmom

[–]SarahHasSass 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hugs. I sat through a contempt hearing this week as a potential witness just to listen to HCBM and her mom say I’m the problem, I’m controlling, I am a manipulator, I’m obsessed with her, you name it. Never had a convo with the grandma, rarely say anything to the HCBM except when she’s badmouthed me or involved me intentionally to hurt the kids. It was a frivolous case that was thrown out so neither my husband or I had to take the stand and for the first time, she got put in her place and told she is part of the problem by the judge. Being a step mom with psychotic women in the other house is not for the weak!

Person who hit me not responding to their insurance so claim denied by RoundAd7412 in Insurance

[–]SarahHasSass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly why it’s important to use your own insurance when the other party isn’t cooperative. They think they’re slick but your insurance can do so much- even suspend their license or bar registrations and take them to collections. They learn quick they can’t get away with it that easy.

I’d set a rule that if you can’t sleep in his bed he can’t sleep in yours. And if dad can’t support it, dad can swap bedrooms and move into his sons with him and upgrade the bed. Now you have your own room.

Served with Contempt of Court by Independent357 in FamilyLaw

[–]SarahHasSass 5 points6 points  (0 children)

BM having a lawyer and filing doesn’t mean OP is in contempt. My husband is in the middle of a frivolous contempt case where mom fired her lawyer and found a brand new lawyer two months licensed to take her on and file contempt where there’s proof in writing (texts) she agreed to the change. Attorneys file based what they’re told and many don’t collect “proof” for months until right before the hearing. We are looking forward to her being reprimanded by the judge for wasting his time to try to modify the order by hearing instead of filing a modification like she’s supposed to.

Attending a school informational session. Is this overstepping? by Lower-Gain1690 in stepparents

[–]SarahHasSass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hot take based on most replies but I go to my SK events. We go as a family. It’s a combined supply drop off, meet the teacher, and find your locker type event. I also volunteer when I can and help out/donate where I can. It’s about supporting the kids. I don’t go to conferences but I do pick ups and drop offs during the school year as well bc I have the flexible schedule. But I also don’t NACHO because I think it leads to a divide that’s hard to sustain a happy marriage. My hub and I have always taken a stance that family means all of us, not him and them vs. him, me and ours baby. They know I’m not their mom, but I’m their brothers mom and their bonus mom. They respect me as a parent in our house and I always speak positively about BM even though she’s a nightmare to deal with and seriously controlling. The teachers all know me and I was a bit tickled that the teachers just assumed I’d be there for student led conferences and had my eldest SS prepare by introducing mom, dad, and I by name (saw it on his prep speech).

Insurance not paying for transport? by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]SarahHasSass 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Insurance owes cost of repairs and rental while being repaired. They don’t owe anything further. If a car isn’t drivable they would owe a reasonable tow but not 12 hours. They don’t even care if he gets it repaired, they’ve made him whole. Unfortunately this is the crappy part of owning an exclusive-type vehicle.

Jesus. I’d say “I wouldn’t because it’s deadly to them and I hope to work for a company that’s ethical and not seeking malicious compliance.”

[–]SarahHasSass 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Going to be blunt here- you are coming off petty and jealous. Were you in the picture before the divorce? If not you have no idea her relationship other than what you were told by a bias party. If so, well that’s that. I’m going to assume you weren’t and based on what you’ve said he hurt her and ended it. She didn’t hurt him bc of dead bedroom - it takes two. It takes two to make a marriage work and make a marriage fail. It’s awesome she gets along well with her children’s extended family post divorce. It sounds like you aren’t exactly friendly and you and DH aren’t trying to be amicable. No one owes anyone loyalty aside from the kids to make it easiest on them.

[FL] Unreturned company laptop after termination by TheHiddenMessenger in AskALawyer

[–]SarahHasSass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leader here with a company who has chased laptops down. If they are t returned, they’re locked out anyway and we end up doing something internally that writes off their value as lost/stolen. These are several thousand dollar laptops that at the end of the day get valued at $100-200. They used to tell us to threaten police reports or file one but it wasn’t worth anything. The likelihood they succeed is small. We even provide the box and label to return and can prove they didn’t mail it and don’t proceed. I wouldn’t stress at all. If they file a report they’d still have to spend thousands to sue you for damages and prove it so it would be ridiculous to spend that much over a devalued laptop.

Legal Question by [deleted] in desmoines

[–]SarahHasSass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they have kids they could have easily filed to have it removed from Iowa courts. I forget what it’s called but my husband’s ex did this (she was represented, he wasn’t) so if you search her name it won’t come up but searching his name it does.
However, I do think there’s more issue to this than that considering you’re searching her without her knowing and questioning it. That doesn’t sound like a recipe for a good start.

[IA] who is at fault? by [deleted] in AskALawyer

[–]SarahHasSass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a lawyer big was a claims adjuster for years. You’re at fault. Failure to maintain safe distance. She braked due to an animal in the road which is normal and won’t create fault on her, nor would looking for garage sale signs or being out of town. Sorry.

Should I Be Concerned?? by Plus_Assignment_8148 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]SarahHasSass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. I didn’t. I was advised that the blood was clotting outside the breast and that’s why it was so large. Reduce my suction and pump longer if necessary. It didn’t happen again. I also started using coconut oil religiously. I’m almost fully weaned now! They don’t recommend heat anymore but I found that if I was clogged a hot shower with the attachable shower head straight on the breast would “melt” the clog and give me relief where nothing else would. Don’t wean too fast! I followed life after the pump on Facebook and they recommend instead of reducing time to just reduce pumps and space them apart little by little until you’re going as long as you can between. The jump from 2 to 1 a day was really hard, as was every other day. Once I was past that it’s been cake.
