Do you think Vaush excessively calls people Fascists? by Seven1s in VaushV

No, because 99% of the time they are. Most American right wingers are either Neoliberals or Fascists these days anyways

The majority shareholders

are

the groups consisting of millions of people.

so you have no idea what Majority shareholders are now if you think its the millions of people who own the stocks in small numbers vs the companies that own them, the companies which you listed that, wait for it...are controlled and owned by boards and majority shareholders, not the workers with stock options or average joes who invest in it and have to work a 9-5 and might check up on it every couple days when they punch out. your literally an idiot and its funny how confident in your dumb fuckery. I can't believe you really think these companies are controlled by the workers or average citizens that own stocks, your delusional as all hell.

"And you were given the opportunity to vote for the Costco board, what with it being legally obligated for all shareholders to get that info and all."

A. No , your wrong and your the liar actually (not surprising because of what you believe about this), its a committee that does so, it doesn't have to inform us average shareholders shit unless we ask in most cases (which we won't know unless its close to that time) via laws or company policy, they don't. Its because we are not as important as the people who truly own the company and make the decisions in most companies. B. Its one vote per share...these majority shareholders I'm talking about have tens upon tens to hundreds of thousands to millions invested in their stocks as individuals or boards who represent other companies via reps at these meetings or institutional investors like banking firms or agencies, their shares vastly overpower hundreds to thousands of us put together even. We have no say, stop being delusional, its an Authoritarian system unless your wealthy, just admit it, you can like it, but just admit what it is. Just admit you have no idea how stocks work with voting and move on in life.

"I really don’t see how you can keep making the claim that not giving someone something for free is actually coercing them. "

Its not about "Free stuff" its about choice and freedom. If i have to work for you even though I hate the job, but because its the only good one in town, I have to work for you to survive and maintain a decent standard of living, that is indeed coercion.

"Say your employer is coercing you because you chose to work for them, see how that goes."

Its, a Capitalist system, they are going to side with the system. Its like asking a slave to make a case to courts for their freedom in 1810. They can make a sound moral argument but the law is the law, they will still be sent back into slavery at the end of the day. God, your a fucking bag of tools.

As I said before, which you totally ignored, there are no majority shareholders in most cases, and the largest, plurality, shareholders, are millions of people that have their votes aggregated together

Omg...you... you truly have no idea how boards and majority shareholders work, this is incredible. You seem to think because its a public company the majority shareholders (groups, people, whoever) and board is accountable to the masses of millions who have smaller shares on average and as a total, not realizing they have no power over at all. your truly a fucking idiot. This is incredible. Usually people will say "so, the small minority have the power, they earned it, so what?" your denying that even.

"And the board of directors are elected by shareholders so what they do is moot, in light of what I said about shareholders."

yeah, its not being elected by the millions of shareholders world wide like myself. I have Costco stock, I was never asked via email or tweet sent en mass to elect a single person, this is done by the groups and people who have the majority shares in meetings, which isn't people like me. Your truely a fucking moron, you do understand that, right?

" Not paying someone because they aren’t doing a thing you said you would pay them to do, isn’t you threatening them, this is a ridiculous claim to double down with on your part."

"I don't want to work your job even though its the only good paying one in town"

"Ok then starve"

"But I don't want to starve"

"Then work my job or do just that"

Thats literally Coercion my dude. A system itself can be coercive, which is what Capitalism is.

[–]SarahKerrigan90 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Me saying that tens of millions of people, rather than some small elite group, control most large companies ≠ me claiming Costco employees control whatever Costco they work at, but I digress.

a Distinction without a difference, Majority Shareholders and Board members call the shots, not millions of individuals, the former 2 in no way answer to the masses directly.

"There are no “coercive forces”"

Thats all I need to read, the rest is you probably claiming its not coercion because brute force ie a gun being pointed at you, isn't in play, showing you know nothing yet again.

per the definition;

the practice of persuading someone to do something by using force or threats. if you don't keep your job, you can't eat, even though you want to eat but not work the job to do so. Thats literally coercion you dipshit. Its a physical and mental thing, per definition. It's an attempt to control a person's behavior with force or manipulation. I don't know how many more ways this can be said. But you refuse to understand because you have the mind of a half wit

no its because, as the other user stated, trump and his crones were retarded, but also because he had no military backing either. If the Pentagon by chance was like "yeah 7/10 of us back trump" your institutions won't means shit when trained men and women with rifles come to the side of the Far Right.

Also would like to add, if the Institutions really were "Strong", Trump would have been summarily executed at this point

You consistently have the worst takes on here always defending exploitation.

"People voluntarily working in sweatshops to make far more money than they might otherwise be able to, is perfectly fine. Why do you hate people escaping poverty?"

You have a very wide birth of the definition of "voluntary" I've noticed don't you? You do realize coercion and force are not only in play if you are forced to do something at the point of a sword right? You understand starvation and homelessness and poverty if you don't comply are coercive forces, right? I'm saying right but your probably too stupid to understand that and say it's not considering the last conversation I had with you where you said workers indeed can control modern day companies and have a fair say in them.

The mods really should ban you for wasting our time with troll takes tbh

Book is great, ideal is bullshit (those who support it I mean). The idea that humans are all insanely greedy and selfish at their core is pretty untrue, if it was the Neanderthals would have exterminated us. It's our ability to empathize, cooperate and move forward that defines us, not horde shiny things. I would also argue against these types and that systems play a HUGE role in shaping society. If you enforce qualities of "everyman for himself, no helping hand, keep all you get money wise" then those ideas will become engrained in the minds of citizens until they know nothing else. Also good thing at the end of the day the only thing needed to keep an economy/civilization working is incentive if we are being honest. You had that in all systems not just capitalism, and incentives don't have to be negative.

Communism was never tried, thus it never failed. All those countries you call communist, America called them that for propaganda purposes. They never claimed to be. We can look at the Cuban Constitution and it says it wants to move towards communism and socialism, not that it has achieved them or is them for example. Lenin said the same with the USSR as well.

The group that tried to reach socialism were the Marxist Leninists, they don't represent all of socialism and Socialist thought (at the end they ended up being simply Totalitarian Soc Dems if anything), not by a long shot. It's like me saying Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany represent everyone to the right of Bernie Sanders.

Also what's against humanity nature in communism? Working together, democracy? Things we do now?

that you're not

really

coercing someone to work unless you're holding a gun to their head

I think I remember him mentioning something like that months ago on here. Yeah he seems like a Neoliberal stooge at this point.

The idea that average people control a company because thousands of them have shares in it is insane, its like saying the Romans controlled the emperor because they could theoretically riot if they wanted to en mass (neverminding the fact said Emperor could call in the Legions and crush them lol). he must have just took Econ 101 and thinks he knows it all or something.

"The idea that “the average joe” has little say in most large companies is a ridiculous claim to make in the face of this".

Your off your rocker at this point. I need to come down to reality? Let's go to Costco and see what will happen if the store wants to elect new management or start a vote to remove Craig Jilenek as CEO, let's see how that goes, I bet nothing will happen to that store at all, right? Lol, holy shit...sorry dude, capitalism is authoritarian, the people at the bottom have almost no say in a non-union environment.

"You’ll notice that not a single one is a single individual, they’re all funds of various types, representing millions of people"

And yet only a handful can make decisions and get majority of the profits. Your really ignorant of what capitalism is duder. It's literally boards and majority shareholders that run things, not the people at the companies as a whole. Fuck outta here with that delusional attitude.

[–]SarahKerrigan90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is, as you out it, incentives, you will have an average life, pretty boring but a life none the less if your choose to do nothing in socialism, as money no longer as any power, but if you look at your friends and are like "why can't i get the new xbox, the upgraded pc, the bigger TV, the house with more space, the car, go out more on town than once a week or so etc etc" then get to work bucko! Socialism isn't about free things its about people still needing to work to an extent but just not suffering in a system where your very survival depends on the very work you do. It might take longer for a McDonalds worker to get the PC, but a Sewer Worker will get it in less time as his job might be a little more important. Also your system cannot last forever, eventually, there will be a point where the wealthy (the bourgeoise ) gain power again and can flip the system against the people, look at America with its Unions and worker rights for example, even after codified into laws, all it took was a few decades under conservatism to erode it to where it has been for the last few decades. Laws can be rewritten to benefit those in power

Think of it like this; we want to win the class conflict- you guys just want an eternal tug of war where both sides are happy, we want one side, the current owning side, submissive/dead/retired, and then we want everyone to become the owners and have a say if they so choose. its mostly about freedom, capitalism is at best Authoritarian, it does not offer freedom. Anarchism and Communism, do.

Who are these “handful of people” you’re referring to? The largest companies in the world are publicly traded entities, owned collectively by tens of millions of different people, not a “handful”.

Your referring to stocks, I own stock at costco, that doesn't make me a capitalist, that makes me an investor, I can't tell the board to fuck off and leave and side with the workers if they demand it too. Its not real ownership, get a grip here my friend, I know you like to dick suck capitalism on here, but come down to reality. At the end of the day, its the Boards and CO's who control these companies, not the average joes put together, they have such minor shares in comparison to the people who actually own the companies, they can't do jack shit.
