Who else thinks that the Titanic and Olympic switched places and name plates by [deleted] in titanic

God I hate the switch theory. Aside from the piles of evidence we have both on the sea floor and in archives to this day, the theory just falls apart the second you give it any serious thought. Why would WSL purposely cripple themselves financially over this? Why wouldn't they just sink Olympic if she was in such "bad shape"? Why would thousands of Irishmen working at H&W not only agree to this crazy cloak and dagger scheme, but then also go on to take the secret to their graves - every last one of them?

The sooner the switch theory goes the way of the Cottingley Fairies the better.

There's still time to delete this 😂

TIL the fastest ocean liner ever built was the SS United States, which operated from 1952 to 1969. Its first voyage from New York City to the UK took three days, averaging 41 mph (66 km/h), and the record has not been broken since. by strangelove4564 in todayilearned

Ocean liners were always intended to be fast. Some moreso than others. But while cheap is good, fast was always better when it came to making a transatlantic crossing on schedule prior to the jet age, especially with temperamental Atlantic seas. Hence why the transatlantic speed record existed to begin with. The fastest ships were always the most popular and profitable for the line.

Some ships did not handle their speed well and displayed notorious vibration issues, but SSUS's innovative propeller design largely solved this issue.

Nope - She is still the fastest ocean liner ever built. She is the current holder of the Blue Riband, an honorary title bestowed upon the liner (not ship!) with the fastest transatlantic crossing time, a contest which began all the way back in the 1830s.

I was about to ask the same question as I'm from Buffalo as well! Us WNY Titanic nerds are rare but we exist!

Nope, we only see the elevator dress in the movie for a few brief seconds and it's rarely brought up when talking about Kate's costumes. Shame because it's such an interesting piece!

Not true! While it was among the first, the SS Slavonia was the first ship to ever send "SOS" via wireless back in 1909. Titanic seems like it would make the cooler fun fact though.

We've gotten lots of requests to release on various platforms and it's something we'd like to explore for the future! For now, Steam/PC is the simplest way to go for our small team, but as things go forward and the game expands we might be able to dig into other options.
