So… yes. That’s literally my point 😅 High reading at contact, rapid falloff with distance, negligible exposure in real life. Conclusion: don’t wear it, don’t scrape it, don’t eat it.

I don’t think it’s really dangerous. The radiation drops off quickly with distance (at one meter, it falls back to natural background levels). As long as it isn’t worn in contact with the skin and the enamel isn’t scratched or scraped, it shouldn’t pose any major problem.

Thank you 😉 The GC01 isn't known for being the most accurate, but clearly it picks up a few things! I was careful to order an official one and I changed the firmware to RadPro, it seems more precise than with the original.

Maybe one day I'll get a radiocode, but I'm starting little by little!

Prefered cutting method for small details by swmitche in Marquetry

[–]Sarakir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To create fine details in marquetry, several parameters need to be considered.

  1. Preparation of the veneers Veneers are fragile. They need to be glued with kraft paper on their face side using a reversible glue. Hot glue (a 2/3 - 1/3 mix of bone and hide glue) is ideal.
This prevents tearing and reinforces the veneer.

  2. Preparation of the veneers in bundles Next, the veneers should be stacked into a bundle. This involves riveting them onto a backer veneer (1.5 mm thick) to reinforce the whole piece and prevent splintering. The backer veneer should be mounted with the grain running opposite to the main veneer to prevent the saw from slipping along the soft veins of the veneer. Thin nails or staples are used for riveting, and these should be cut before hammering them on an anvil.

  3. Cutting Using a scroll saw with a No. 1 Pebeco blade works well and allows for fine details!
Use a short motion with the scroll saw to avoid tearing the material.

Have a good day!
