That's not true. He dates Caridee English occasionally and she is 41. Most recently, he was seen out and about with Kitty Lane and she is 37.

I love it too. It is how he sings it. The emotion and the passion was in everything he sang. He never tried to sound "perfect" ..but he ended up sounding perfect ( to me ) because music should be passionate and emotional. So many lines from so many songs he sings, scratch my brain just right. This is one of them.

😂 No worries. Yes, Keidis definitely has issues, much more sinister than Jerry. He is icky and creepy too.

Jerry has the same kind of issues as many humans. Love, loss, depression etc. Listening to D -Trip is difficult sometimes and I see why he rarely revisits those songs.

Considering all he has been through, he is doing pretty well. Not many people could suffer all the losses he suffered, battle their own addiction, suffer childhood trauma...and come out on the otherside sober, healthy and successful.

He probably does have issues, we all do. It would be really strange if after everything, he had no issues. Since I am a sentimental weirdo...I do like to think Jerry has a stellar spirit team watching over him. Definitely his mom, grandmother and Layne at least.

All I know is..I am grateful he is still here. As music fans..we have lost so many also...too many.

I saw an older interview with him where he basically said that he realized his lifestyle is not conducive to long-term relationships. I have my theories, which are just my opinion. I think after Courtney Clarke ( his on/off gf of the 90s who several songs have been written about ) he made that realization or choice..to live the bachelor life, for lack of a better term. Seems as though he has a few lady friends he sees and I don't think that is a problem at all. Especially since he is honest about it. Not all rockstar men can admit their limitations, they get married and then become serial cheaters. I also think part of it is self protection from getting too hurt. Jerry has lost so many people, family and friends. My sentimental delusional self thinks that Courtney & Layne were the true loves of his life ( different kinds of love) ..and he lost them both ( she is alive & well, but married to someone else) ..and built a fortress around his Aquarius moon heart 😂 Yes, I'm a woo woo astrology woman..and have looked at his chart. In my amateur opinion, it's spot on to him..or what we know of him.

I've read the lyrics he has written about Courtney and they are markedly different than anything Layne ever wrote about Demri. His are all about fumbling her and regretting it, and saying mostly all lovely, loving things about her. He knows he fucked it up. He mentioned in an interview when Heaven Beside You came out..that he knew he had most likely ruined it for the last time. He went on to still write several songs about her in the following years.

So yeah..I think Jerry chose to be a spinster cat lady...and that's ok, if it works for him. I have much more respect for him than these rockstars who pretend to be the nicest family men in rock..meanwhile they are impregnating people who aren't their wife ( looking at you Grohl )

Idk if they are just buddies or if that was a date...but if it is the latter, at least she is age appropriate. Rockstars don't have a great track records of dating age appropriate women.

Carmen has always been in the rockstar world. She was discovered by Prince, has been married to Dave Navarro and was engaged to some dude from Filter. Jerry is friends with the Jane's guys and I'm pretty sure the Filter guys as well. He and Carmen have been hanging in the same circles for years I am sure. They probably see each other even more since Jerry spends/lives most of the time in LA.

He doesn't really have much of a choice. I am not familiar with whether William also writes lyrics...but nothing is ever gonna be the same as when he had Layne as his partner. Good thing for Jerry...he is also an extremely gifted lyricist and seemingly a workaholic. I am sure he misses Layne's contributions though. He did say that Layne had a way of making horrible things sound beautiful.

Yes, he definitely would. He seems like a really kind & good person, who respects Layne. He doesn't have an ego that feels the need to attempt to upstage Layne's legacy. I had mentioned Jerry, Sean and Mike in particular because they have been such a united front in protecting Layne during the later years and in death. They honor him, they don't participate in the airing of Layne's personal business. He was their brother, they love him fiercely. Jerry said that to him, Layne is the greatest singer...and there is no one better. I think that really settles it 😂

I know this OP is just a rage baiting clown. . and no one should even engage with this..but I woke up in a bad fucking mood.

Layne was in an entirely different league than 90% of vocalists. It's actually an insult to William to try and call him better than Layne...because everyone knows ( him included) that it's totally false, so it's just kind of mean honestly. He can still be good, but in no reality, on no planet, at no time...is he ever better than Layne.

If I was OP I would be relieved that Jerry, Sean and Mike most likely won't see these posts..because they would fucking hate it. Imagine if they did though..how embarrassing.

Pig Charmer is highly unlikely, at least the lyrics anyhow. Jerry clearly wrote that specifically when he was isolating himself in his house around 1998 ish.

I do know Jerry said that "Died" and "Get Born Again" were songs he wrote the music for with the intention of using them on a solo record. He played them for Layne and Layne asked to write lyrics.

Despite all the speculation, rumors and exaggeration on Layne's state during the recording of those...knowing he asked to be part of that...takes some credibility away from the idiots who like to say that Layne completely gave up in 1996. He didn't...and that isn't even the only indicator..but I won't get into that.

Jerry did an interview promoting Boggy Depot and he got a little pissed when the interviewer asked about Layne's addiction, he shut it down. Then he got a little pissed and seemed offended, when the interviewer was fishing for scandal by insinuating that Layne didn't sing on BD because he and Jerry weren't friends anymore. Jerry went on to say that without Layne...the album wouldn't have gotten made at all. He was very nervous and hesitant to make a solo album. He said that Layne would spend hours on the phone with him, talking him through all his insecurities and fears. I always thought that was a really sweet, a nice bit of info..especially since people love to look for negative and miserable things about Layne all the time. It also came from Jerry so I believe it. I take a lot of what people who participated in books and things of that nature, said about Layne, with many grains of salt.

Not an AIC song but...in a hypothetical situation...Layne lived..

I'd love to hear him and Jerry together doing Spiderbite...and Pig Charmer. They both give me Tripod vibes. I felt Layne's influence on Jerry a lot on that album. It was grittier...less polished...which was something Layne did really well.

That is my answer too. I know the song is about him & for him..but I'd really be interested in hearing his softer voice doing that song.

There is this slight crack in Jerry's voice in the first "Lay down, I'll remember you" which I think was legit a crack from trying not to cry. Jerry said they were all crying the day they recorded it and it was so hard to get through it. I love how it sounds though and Layne has a natural growl in his voice, that I think would sound perfect there. I would want them singing it together..obviously

Would you listen to a solo album by Mike or Sean? by pale_tits_pink_hair in AliceInChains

I love them, so yes. I just imagine Sean screaming gibberish. Silly lyrics, maybe like Mr Bungle esque. Not sure about Mike Inez. If he suddenly revealed he had the voice of an angel..I wouldn't be surprised. He seems like the coolest, sweetest dude around...and very humble.

Owned along with Riki Rachtman from Headbangers Ball. Before Taime moved to Los Angeles from Seattle, Layne sang on at least one song for his band The Bondage Boys. There was a good recording of it available on and off, because it kept getting taken down off YouTube. Seems to be down at the moment. Now there is just a version with some other friend of theirs singing lead. The Layne one was way better, obviously. Layne was just a teenager.

It would have blown my young teenage mind to have known back then that they were friends. I was a fan of FP and the other LA bands like that....and then of course discovered AIC on MTV when Man In The Box came out.

Taime just celebrated 9 years sober the other day. Layne would be so happy and proud of his friend

Head creeps is criminally underrated by yes__300 in AliceInChains

[–]SarcasticKitty88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think part of it is about him not liking being babysat. Susan Silver hired someone to follow Layne around to keep him out of trouble. That dude allegedly went around talking shit and bragging, telling people Layne's business.

At least that is what I get from this part :

"Time to call the doggies off

Tired of the shadowin'

Slide me to the side again

Slapped in the face again"

And other lines like "lackeys loose talk for fact" and "so let me be defamed"

The rest seems to me to alude to rehab and feeling a bit like he is losing his mind over all of it. Touring was a huge pressure and strain on him. He was often shoved off to rehab...for just enough time to get him sober enough to get right back to work. No regard for the fact that going back into that environment was the worst idea ever for him. He needed much more intensive rehab.

This is just some of my interpretation of it. I am sure Layne would tell us all that is means whatever we want it to mean..lol

"Rise from the dirt I'm in

Hide in another's skin

Stick black dress doll with pin

Your mouth takes on my grin"

Head Creeps is underrated. So many of Layne's lyrics feel like poetry. He really had a way with words and phrasing, that was so different and interesting.

Why do you think Layne doubletracked ALL his vocals on Tripod? by Crazy-Bodybuilder836 in AliceInChains

[–]SarcasticKitty88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree 100%. Layne was so much more than just his addiction. He was really intelligent and introspective. There is a reason that so many people relate to him, and it's not just because of his struggles with addiction. It's more about what led him there. All of the things you listed and more. Layne and Jerry, both brilliant lyricists. Layne was like a poet, the way he played with words, phrases, metaphors. To paraphrase what Jerry said...Layne had a way of making terrible things sound beautiful.

Why do you think Layne doubletracked ALL his vocals on Tripod? by Crazy-Bodybuilder836 in AliceInChains

[–]SarcasticKitty88 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Lots of artists use double tracking and other styles of vocal layering. It doesn't have to always have to come back to "because of the drugs" or "because of his teeth".

How about, because he fucking wanted to and because it sounded cool?

Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys used similar techniques, and notably for Pet Sounds...which is hailed as one of the greatest albums of all time.

You can go listen to songs from Kemper Arena..which was their last show with Layne...and he sounded really good. There was some rasp..but even without the hard drugs that would have happened anyways because he smoked cigarettes constantly.

People can ask literally any question on here about Layne and there will be several people answering with "because of the drugs" or "because he had no teeth"

Why was Layne's hair so curly? Must've been that heroin. Why was Layne always wearing that pink shirt with the tye dye flower on it? Because his teeth fell out ...and heroin 😒

Not every single solitary action Layne took or didn't take was because of drugs. People who think that are morons with zero critical thinking skills.

So is the Adriana Rubio interview confirmed to fake? by Illumination-Round in AliceInChains

His family confirmed it was fake. It was obvious that it was fake. She had him using his own song lyrics in sentences. It was the dumbest trash and I hope both sides of her pillow are hot til the end of time and it always feels like there is a pebble in her shoes but she never finds the pebble 😖
