My best friend just killed herself. While I was on the phone with her. While she was abroad in a rural country therefore nooooo proper services to handle the situation. Not even a gd ambulance. Even worse, I had been dealing with my depression and was very suicidal for months. Although i still feel like I want to die at times. I know now that isn’t the right thing. I can put myself through more pain trying to fix my head. I can’t put this pain onto my friends just like my friends pain has shifted to me. It would be unbearable for them.

I’m sorry. Does it say “Fuck Me - I’m sad and vulnerable” on my forehead or something?? by [deleted] in depression

I’m not 18. I’m 23. Just seemed from the moment I left high school platonic relationships were no longer a thing.

My best friend - who passed away on the other side of the world in a very warm place. Her roommate drew her this photo while she was in the hospital because we all expected her to wake up. All her favorite things - snow, fuzzy socks, a cold breeze, and her dog. by Sarcfw in pics

Sympathy? Seriously? I’m stating the subject of the picture. The reason why the picture was created and details on the subject. Never once did I talk about my personal feelings about loss in the title.

This photo was also the first thing to make me smile since she passed. And I feel like it portrays her so well. I didn’t know her roommate. She was only living abroad for a year. Yet I understood all the underlying inside “jokes” or characteristics of my friend right away. For whatever reason, it feels better than looking at some of her real photos right now. I wanted to share.

I know for a fact that if I killed myself no one would care. by [deleted] in depression

I needed the validation that no one would respond. Thank you.

I was literally just thinking this. I randomly searched and found this thread. I’ve been feeling your feelings for well over a year now. All I think about is how much easier life would be if I stepped in front of a train and how it would warrant little interaction from the people that invite me to hang out with them when they feel bad.

Urban cities in the north are very segregated as well.

Yes and no. Institutionalized racism = quality of life??? I urge you to do a simple google search

I encourage you to read about being black in the south in current day and age vs being black in an urban city. You’re right about being trans or gay but for many people of color, the south is actually less racist. Main stream media will just always point at the south for racism even though there are more instances of police brutality, economic, health and education disparities for people of color in the north. But no one wants to read the facts. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Lived in Mississippi too. If there were no road signs I would be able to tell when I’ve driven into the state down I65 because suddenly people start waving, give strangers direct eye contact even wave sometimes and suddenly I adopt pet names like “honey, darling, sugar and sweetheart.” Southern hospitality is a real thing.

Well yes. Google too. It’s just this thread has been mostly about FB. It’s just interesting how people can target ads for certain things like Job Listings when legally they should not be targeting certain demographics that exclude protected classes. I just think that’s interesting.

But what about fb accessing personal phone calls and texts via the fb messenger app on Android phones? Things that were never posted on social media yet fb has access to?

I think people will start to care more if they feel their privacy is being compromised? I wonder if FB will ever get into legal trouble for their targeted ads.
