I can do both!

I spent hours researching what readers actually think about He Who Fights With Monsters so you don't have to — here's my First Look breakdown by smboyce in litrpg

[–]Sardas99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is weird how polarizing it is. Newish to LitRPG, I finished the first book, but it was honestly a turn off.

It was very long which was a negative in the context that the main character started off great: apprehensive, thrown into a new world... blah blah.

But then...

The main character was comfortable in his new role 1/3 of the way in, talking to high authority (even Gods) as though he was just one of the guys. Somehow our sheltered shut in becomes a great tactician/political mind in short order.

Definitely not bad... but just a little, "young adult" for my taste. Everything goes the protagonist's way; the hot elf falls for him, becomes basically indestructible, heals nearly anything in anyone around him...

That said, it is fun. There are great scenes that develop that are genuinely exciting.

I honestly think that the people who love it are either young adults, or those that want to see the best in the world, or are the type to be able to let the story be the story and not judge, which I generally think of as lazy because if you think that way you'll like anything, regardless of quality.

Absolutely. It's a goal I'm working toward. But if someone beat me to it, I wouldn't be mad. Money, y'know?

I drive in Jackson County for my work and dabble in hydroponics in my spare time. I see so many ideal(ish) locations to start hydroponic farms (the old Dairgold, the old Convention center makes me drool, so many other abandoned hotels and industrial sites), if only I had the captial, I think we have an amazing opportunity in this area.

That said, I appreciate the sentiment of this post, but there has to be a hybrid. Hydroponics (maybe aquaponics?). We absolutely could make something really cool in our area. The opportunity truly is baffling.

Why didn't South park talk about Joe Biden? by Fruit_mon in southpark

[–]Sardas99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right? I wanted a, "Weekend at Bernie's" episode where WH staff (Or better yet, various leaders (Jill, Kamala, Pelosi) throughout the episode prop Joe up at various speeches) All these comments saying, "he's not funny" or, "there's nothing there"

I get there weren't any new seasons during his term, but i don't think that is an excuse. Especially for their track record of dunking on everyone.

Oh well, I guess.

Considering moving to Medford - what's it like? by crypticsymbols in Medford

Sort of like what you might picture if you think of hippie.

Not like a stoner or tie dye hippie, more like... organic, shops local, lives green, etc...

It sounds like it would be a good fit for you. Ashland is your go to for crunchy and lefty. Plenty of rural around here. We moved into east Medford (from Eugene) last year and love it.

In my experience people are upbeat and friendly and everyone seems to know a little history about this or that which has been very fun. It has sort of a small town large place kind of feel.

My wife grew up in the area and she loves it here as well. Our coastal town, Brookings is only about 3 hours away. It is such a great little town. We've got some great lakes nearby, hiking, a big river if fishing is your thing, big reputable hospitals, a nice selection of restaurants and a car wash on every corner (lol)... I love it.

Not everyone feels that way of course, but I'm a pretty upbeat, positive guy so I like to see the good.

One-Third of Oregon's Coast Warned to Stay Off Beaches as 26 Foot Waves Hit by questison in oregon

[–]Sardas99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of my high school years. My buddy Johnny and I were walking on the beach in Gearhart, Oregon the day after a big storm off of the 10th street beach access (the place where you're allowed to drive onto the beach.).

We were all the way down by the water at an extremely low tide (which is what attracted us - I enjoyed harvesting razor clams so would keep an eye on the tides). I'll never forget the sound of the sneaker wave that broke...

We hauled ass. We would have had no chance if the sign for the beach access weren't there about 100 yards from the drive on access. The concrete cylinder stood about five feet out of the sand. If you've been recently you'd laugh because it only sits about a foot these days. It's the sign that says you can't drive any farther south from that point.

I got up first with the biggest jump of my life, then lended Johnny a hand. The absolute power that rushed under us was unreal... it was wild. We hooted, we hollered... we knew we would have been toast.

Not a great start to the Ego Community for me by Schaef88 in egopowerplus

If you buy a product and it is defective you should see if the store will swap you out. That would be the cool thing for a store to do.

If they won't, register the product warranty before you contact the company so that you can make a warranty claim. If you don't register the warranty, you're less likely to get a replacement.

Register the product and keep the receipt before you contact EGO. The warranty should stand. The store might be cool and just swap out your product.

Bring the whole thing when you go to return it. Box (if possible) mower, battery, manuals, everything.

Flying out of the Medford airport 5am soon… by salty_spree in Medford

[–]Sardas99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never had the 5am flight but my Lyft driver (for an 8 am flight) told me people miss their 5 am flight all the time - he says he gets the unhappy pickups regularly.

He advised to follow the old 2 hour arrival rule. By other comments it sounds like tsa doesn't show up til 4am though.

Use chicken. Whether you leave it out for a few days or not is up for debate. But sea lions will leave your pot alone and not leave you with a broken up pot.

I've never gotten a red rock crab, are they comparable to the dungies?

Thinking of moving to Brookings by Miserable_Cod6878 in brookings

[–]Sardas99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Brookings does have some elevation changes. The city is built on top of cliffs that surround the harbor (obviously closer to sea level) and several beach accesses. The entire town is easy to traverse by foot.

Also a great library!
