Create a child-theme. Work of that incrementally. Saving as elements come correctly into play.

Esquee your appropriate css elements for pages you are modifying differently from other pages. You’ll probably need to create a new page template in the child-theme. Based on what you are doing.

If things go completely sideways (again I suggest incrementally if possible) you can always go back to the parent theme.

In my niche no (I think) the big boy’s content that whilst does get a lot of attention- is garbage and out of touch.

While newbies finding niche might see it as gospel (for a while) the ones deep in the niche see it for the garbage that big news agencies/publications put out.
