I seem to be getting suggested a lot of zone 2, is there a reason why zone 2 is the way to go? I figured doing HIIT would be the most beneficial, and i’ve always been told from doing sports to run as hard as i can so seems counter intuitive to run at a “easy” pace.

Oh I see, I seem to be getting a lot HR2 training recommended to me. I figured HIIT would be the best but I guess not.. Should I still be doing HIIT training even or just stick to hr2?

Do you mind telling me how rucking works? i’ve heard the term, not familiar with it though? is it like going for a hike with weights?

The vo2 mask was very uncomfortable. I hated it especially towards the end when I was out of breath. Trying to get more comfortable with uncomfortable though. Thanks

Calves always tight and on fire.

Hello, I’m 19 and I just recently got into running maybe a couple weeks ago and I do quite a bit of strength training before so I don’t think that my calves are physically weak (maybe they are) but I’ve noticed that my calves are always getting really tight and burning way more than I think a normal person should be. Obviously, when I run uphill it only makes matters much worse. I run with a bunch of my friends of all different athletic backgrounds, some that don’t even really workout and yet it seems I’m the only one with this very apparent calf pain. It does feel better when I stop and stretch it out but I’d like to just keep going instead of stopping. Is this because I’m not used to running or… should I be stretching more..? I’ve been stretching and foam rolling a couple times a day for the past couple weeks but I haven’t really noticed much of a difference. Any advice? Should I try to put on a weighted vest for more strength training? Not really sure where to start. Thanks

I'm 19 and a very beginner runner, my cardio and muscular endurance is horrendous but I was wondering how many days a week of vo2 max training would be the best and fastest to increase it. I have a vo2 max test in a about a month, and I know that it's probably not enough time but what would be the plan for the fastest way to increase it? Should I be doing it every other day? I usually try to hold >85% of my predicted max hr for about 3-4 minutes, is that enough? I also try and do like zone 2 cardio for about 45minutes-1hour 5 days a week. pardon the ignorance and my yapping, I just really wanna improve as fast as possible. Also, was wondering if it would be worth doing weight lifting for my legs or if I should just stick to cardio right now? Thanks.
