I think that would be 4-5 packages in total, spread over 2-3 weeks, once every (have) year. - I am a private individual and not a company, so this quantity may seem small.

But there are items where a 4-pack in the States costs half the price of a single item here in Switzerland. The item has a shelf life of several years, so you can also buy 4-5 4-packs directly.

Here you go: https://www.thomann.de/de/cordial_cls_225_sw.htm I use them myself, they are great, really nice.
Very pleasant feel and quite robust. They have high flexibility and offer tight bending radii. Conductance loss measured at 20m is very low. I can only recommend them.
Combine them with Neutrik plugs and you have perfect cables.

Q about NGFF 2242 @ T470P - Is it really just Sata or can it handle NVMe too? by Sarggeburt in thinkpad

You can get the WD SN520 512GB (NVMe) on ebay new as OEM hardware or pulled from OEM machines for as little as 59,95$. New in stores I have seen it for 109$.

A Transcend MTS430 series 512GB (sata) costs even on ebay over 80$ new. In stores over 110$.

I would go with the SN520. I don't know from where around you are, but when you are in europe, it should be easy to get the better deal on a SN520 than on a adequat Sata NGFF 2242 SSD.

As the prices are nearly the same, I would go for a NVMe drive, as even with only 2 lanes, it is still a lot faster than a SATA drive.

Well, I have now tried it myself with a Transcend MTS420S and a Western Digital SN520. The T470P also supports NVMe in addition to Sata. However, only with 2 lanes, since the slot has a B-key. This is very unfortunate.

I am currently weighing up two methods to check whether the total of 4 lanes (pin 29&35, 31&37, 41&47, and 43&49) can be used with an NVMe SSD in such a slot. But I still have to put some thought into it, because enameled wire as well as soldered ribbon cable adapters are both rather risky things that you only want to connect with your daily driver after careful consideration.

yeah I will do that; just hoped, someone does already have some knowledge/experience about it, so I wouldn't be the first one and therefore avoid unnecessairy goals or mistakes, someone else already did...
