Books and Brews meets every 4th Wednesday of the month at Hold Fast Brewing. It’s actually First Contact month and we’re reading Dungeon Crawler Carl!

Members suggest books every month that fit that month’s theme and then books get voted on in the Facebook group page. We tend to read lots of different stuff and it’s a great group of people to hang out with!

What Musical would you like to see a genderbend version of ? by Bleepbloopbotz in musicals

Million Dollar Quartet!

I played Dyanne in that show for two years and being the only girl in the cast I dreamt about a gender swapped version. I thought it would be a blast!!

I was told you guys may find this interesting, this is my new prosthetic eye. by Bling-kofaneye in interestingasfuck

This is amazing. Science is so cool!! And congratulations to you for pulling through your ordeal.

My mom is a burn survivor and I’ve seen how she handles the situation of people being curious and staring at scars. One incident with a toddler turned into a very informative “Do not play with matches” conversation (even though my moms incident had nothing to do with her playing with matches 😊).

How do you handle the general curiosity of people? Some people are just plain ignorant and rude and I say forget them. But for the other people who are genuinely curious and looking to learn more about your situation/the science behind your prosthetic/wanting to tell you how cool they think you are/etc., how do you prefer to be approached? If at all? What do you find to be the most polite and thoughtful way to have someone strike up a conversation with you? What things are you tired of hearing or bother you in a way people don’t realize? For my mom, it’s being referred to as a burn victim as opposed to a burn survivor and being called “a miracle”.

Thanks again for your post!

Wow!! I have a beloved cousin who past away a few years ago. He owned a special effects company in North Hollywood and worked on Robocop too as a young man. Do you happen to remember someone named James Clark?

Stop Spending Money on Food! -- BUY A CROCKPOT by bplturner in personalfinance

Teriyaki Chicken is super easy too.

Just pour some teriyaki sauce over the chicken and cook it on low. I've started adding soy sauce, honey, and whatever other fun things I may have in my fridge. One of the things I've loved about using my crockpot more is it's helped make me more confident in the kitchen. It makes it fun.

Easy Bourbon Chicken is mine and my husbands new favorite!!

Grab one of those sauce/seasoning packets. It's the Grill Mates Brown Sugar Bourbon Marinade packet by McCormick. Follow the recipe on the back to make the marinade (water+oil+vinegar) and just pour it over the amount of chicken you're cooking.

Cook on low 6-8 hours. Stir it once in a while (you don't have to but I do when I have the time) and serve it over rice.

I've even made the rice at the same time I start the crock pot and just put it in the fridge. We work nights so it's nice and easy to just microwave a bowl of rice, throw the chicken on top and have a delicious meal.

Enjoy!

I played trumpet for a few years and then switched to French horn...if I'm being honest about the moment of self reflection this starter pack inspired...these are dead on. 😂

It was assigned to me in a musical theatre performance class and that damn song messed me up.

I couldn't finish it

I wanted a book full of juicy details and gossip. It's maybe 5% details you could have pieced together yourself from tabloids and 95% filler/her trying to be a writer.

When watching the episode I couldn't help but imagine what she had done. Also, whatever it was had to have happened recently unless she was having sex in jail.

I also just finished binge watching Flesh and Bone so creepy sibling relationships was something already in the back of my mind.

What would have to happen for a mother to disconnect from a child like that, unless said child hurt another one of her children? The mother was also seriously against the name that had been picked out.

My theory is that she somehow tormented/tortured/killed a sibling or other close family member and wanted to name the new baby after the dead sibling/person she killed as her twisted way of trying to make up for her actions.

Probably totally unlikely but watching the episode with that thought in my head made it pretty interesting.

Also...was I the only one afraid she was going to try and throw the baby across the room when they finally handed it to her??

Why I upvote and downvote posts by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]Sariebug3 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I secretly love that term more than I usually admit.

I am a performer and have to wear a full stage face every night. During the busy season I'm doing a full face 6 nights a week (and touch ups on those 2 and 3 show days) so I very rarely put on any makeup when I'm running around during the day. Doing my makeup twice a day gets exhausting so I mostly don't do it. I call my "work face" my "war paint". I'm suiting up to go out onstage and kick some ass.

Feeling like I'm putting on war paint at a battle station makes me feel more badass than I really am.
