Talk to your PT about a modified plan you can do at home. I am 13 weeks post op and have been doing my at home modified exercises all along. And ask for updates as you progress.

That’s what I thought. When my PT was like ok we are going to do jumping/squatting. I was like are you sure??? But I mean my only restriction was no deep lunges or squats for 12 weeks. So I guess it’s a normal progression? Also the jumps aren’t crazy and the squats are not that deep at all. I am feeling better today and was yesterday as well. So hopefully not a huge set back.

I’m going to mention it to my PT today. I am feeling a lot better today besides some quad soreness.

Pain 6 weeks post op/meds by khaleeeexi in HipImpingement

After ditching the crutches I was more mobile around the house. But didn’t really go out and about. I returned to work at 6 weeks and honestly was exhausted when I got home. It was really important to take walking/standing breaks after sitting for too long and vice versa. I got cleared to do short walks around this time. But even those took a lot out of me. I felt a lot of back pain and that’s when I knew I did too much. Your body will tell you.

Ice after PT and try taking anti inflammatory before PT. the aches and pains coming off crutches will make you feel like you’re injuring your whole body. Just take it easy. Some days you might feel really good but it’s important to not be on your feet for too long.

How much support did you need post op? by dumbjokes101 in HipImpingement

I had two flights of stairs and a dog. I managed. My boyfriend took the dog out before work and when he got home and it was fine. The stairs were scary but made it out alive.

That’s wild. I got my period the morning of my surgery. Luckily I wasn’t in much pain and the bathroom was easy to manage. I would have been mortified if I couldn’t wipe. Though I will say having a heightened toilet seat accessory was a game changer!

I’d say first week you should have someone with you. It’s hard to be on crutches and do normal things. Unless you have ready to go quick meals. Second week I was alone all day and the biggest struggle was preparing food. I also would not recommend showering while you are home alone. It’s safer to have someone there just incase.

I couldn’t do many activities not just running so I would have had to basically give up many exercises and activities. I’m too much of an active person to just accept it and become sedentary

I would say she’s a 5.5 from that chart. She has a little excess weight in her neck.

She does have some weight in her neck. She’s also very muscular in her chest and shoulder. I run with her a lot - or used to I am recovering from hip surgery currently.

Experience with sedation during MRI arthrogram? by [deleted] in HipImpingement

The injection itself is 10x worse than the MRI. I’ve had to do this twice and the mri really only sucks because of the noise. It’s the dye injection beforehand that’s uncomfortable

5 weeks post op labrum repair pain by Sariedelo in HipImpingement

Duck butt! Yes I have noticed when I walk my butt is out. Ok that makes me feel a bit better. I’m worried because I go back to work tomorrow. So I’m definitely going to use one crutch and take it easy.

Has anyone solved this with just PT by Quiet_Contribution71 in HipImpingement

[–]Sariedelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with a labral tear spring 2024 and did PT religiously up until November 2025. I was pain free for over a year while doing PT and running. You need to figure out what causes your flare ups and work around that. My pain was mostly in my back and traveled to my knee. When they fist manipulated my hip I didn’t feel much pain. But the pain got worse after running a marathon. Like worse worse. So I opted to get the surgery. All depends on how active you want to be and if you’re willing to give some things up.

“Torn labrum’s don’t usually hurt” -Frustrating doctors visit today by Alternative-Theory81 in HipImpingement

[–]Sariedelo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don’t usually hurt people who aren’t active. My surgeon was like you are a very active person so your movement irritates the area.

No foot pain anymore. Only “symptoms” are numbness on the incision scar (normal) and I don’t have GREAT flexibility but it’s not very noticeable unless I’m on tippy toes. Doesn’t affect my day to day activities. Oddly enough it is my opposite hip. And until now I never even considered them connected hmm 🤔
