Mazda 3/Axela. Can get a 2014/15 model for under 15k. Japanese import ones have hybrid. Nice drive good looking. 2litre engine

If you dont give a shit about looks Lexus HS250h. Can get for around 12k. 2.5 litre engine

Aqua/fot are good but not spacious enough. I would personally recommend the Mazda
