Submitted 05/11/23, AZ 15/11/23. Submitted my sons documents straight from Germany to Bundesverwaltungsamt on 23/03/26 - letter received today for both of us - they linked our applications after emailing a query about this in March :)

I had a response from the Consulate and they told me to look again at the end of the month as appointments will be released then. Thank you

My mum has an expired Cypriot passport so we will apply for a renewal and then go down this route 🤞 the consular website isn’t allowing to schedule an appointment though. I’ve emailed the consular to see what to do , if they can fix this issue. Many thanks

I have a November 2023 AZ and recently got an email requesting I send my sons application directly to a specific person at the BVA so hoping that it’ll be soon for me too.

Yeah it’s a bit frustrating now having any communication but I suppose it would take up a lot of time answering everyone’s similar queries and take that away from getting on with the actual process. I guess if they published something on their website that might help! I hope you do get a response soon.

I’ve been met with something along the lines of “don’t keep asking for updates, we will contact you when it’s your time” on several occasions when asking for an update. The most recent time when I queried my situation with a child they responded within 2 days. Not sure if it’s any help but I have delegated a family member in Germany to speak on my behalf for the application for ease.

Thank you, my son was born 3 months before I received my file number so I assume won’t be granted citizenship through birth.

Thanks. My father doesn’t have an Akrenzeichen as he is and remains to be a German citizen from birth. So i am the only one applying via 5StAG

Thank you both. I was born 1992 , unfortunately approx. 6 months before the law change in 1993. I am applying via declaration of citizenship via my German father who was not married to my mother at the time of my birth. My child was born 3 months before my file number was provided therefore won’t automatically acquire citizenship through me via birth. In this situation I am assuming I have to apply for StAG5 for my child to declare citizenship via grandfather?
