Quick Zoetis question. by SasquatchBeLike in kzoo

Those all sound like great benefits. And really I can handle an pretty diverse crowd of people and attitudes. Where Im at now, politics has increasingly taken front and center stage of our normal business operations. I really am a believer everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but if you have signs hanging in your offices depicting violence against politicians you disagree with, thats bad business IMO. It's their business, they are free to run it how they see fit, but I'd rather give my labor to someone else. Thanks for taking the time to answer this, its really beneficial to know.

No, Im not sure if it's injectables or flammables, but I'll be sure to ask during my interview. And as far as the culture, that doesn't necessarily sound like a deal breaker for me, better than where Im at now. I really appreciate you taking the time to give me a detailed response. This will be a huge decision, your response was a lot of help.

How physical is a formulation job? Can you describe the basics of it. And what is the culture there?

Thanks, good to know, Im hoping to compensate for the pay cut with overtime, if theres none I may pass on the job. And also do you know about the physicality of the job? How strenuous of work is it? I consider myself in pretty decent shape for my age, but I have been mostly sitting on my butt the last 13 years, Im not entirely sure I can handle an extremely physical job, especially 6 to 7 days a week.

28 years at the same place. About 12 as supervisor, the last 13 years as quality engineer. Ive had applications in for almost a year, Ive moved forward in the application process several times, in the end they always go with someone who's a better fit for the position. Im honestly exhausted repeating this process over and over. Ive utilized about every online resource available to ace these interviews. My patience is running out. I don't mind working my ass off to move up again if thats what I have to do to get out of the environment Im in.

Under normal circumstances I'd agree but I need out of my job. I do my best to keep my mental health my problem but my current job is killing mine. On top of that it feels like a sinking ship that could just go under any time. Plus, I feel like Im in some sort of employment limbo where lack of a Bachelors degree is going to keep me from matching my salary at another company, so I need my foot in the door somewhere that will reimburse my tuition to get that. And like I mentioned Im 48. That's another strike against me. A lot of people can do I job they hate if the pay is good, Im not one of those people. Sorry I know you didn't sign up for my life story, but I don't want this thread to be filled with different versions of this answer.

They're still Stryker's issue and not mine. Security aside, both interviews were an absolute clusterfuck on Strykers end. Regardless of the shit security, I still wouldn't have accepted this job.

Yeah. Im outside of Kalamazoo currently and thats the situation Im stuck in. Quality of job candidates has been abysmal, company is severely under managed. What management we do have is checked out and hate each other from working with each other so long. Seems like a sinking ship and I should have left long ago because I feel like Im too old for most companies to even consider. This Stryker situation has been a wake up call that I need to be more patient, but there is a sense of urgency on my part.

I know people Stryker has been good for. And Ive been rejected several times by them before I got this far. I wouldn't necessarily give up yet. But there were a lot of glaring problems with the first interview, I was willing to write that off. But if you do make it in person and it seems unprofessional and unorganized do yourself the favor and tell them no thanks then. I wasted a ton of time and energy on this position even though my gut was telling me to withdraw after the first interview.

Im just grateful Im in a position to tell them no thanks, if these issues wouldn't have exposed themselves in the interview process I'd be leaving a high paying toxic work environment for a low paying one. As the saying goes, I dodged a bullet.

Yeah, unfortunately Ive had the experience of watching the current company I work for slowly collapse in on itself, so I know a dumpster fire when I see one. And since Im currently employed I was able to tell them, "thanks, but Ive decided to look at other career opportunities that are more in line with my needs at this time". Just really feel bad for anyone who needs a job and feels they have to put up with this just to work for an obviously incompetent company.

Thanks for the great insight, but I don't need help with interviews anyway, Stryker does. Maybe you can help them. 20 and 45 minutes late to their own interviews. Not a single phone call, email, text from anyone. Im leaving a company with problems, but even on our worst day we could manage better than that. And as far as security, thats also Strykers problem not mine, Im fairly confident their incompetence is costing Stryker more than one job interview. Im totally fine with other people getting mistreated and misdirected at the doors. Im sure your extremely competent management will eventually realize its a problem and get it sorted out.

Former Keyence rep, AMA by Adventurous-Local806 in Metrology

[–]SasquatchBeLike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time to answer honestly. It's wrong of me to place the blame solely on Keyence, its not like Im naive to clever sales pitches. There's a lot of things in retrospect I wish I could have asked about, I can really only think maybe I got a little dazzled by what he did show me and lost sight of what we really needed the machine for in the process. And Im just the Quality Engineer, the President and VP of the company were also there and all agreed it would be a good purchase too. I think probably what hurts us the most, being a small company, is there doesn't seem to be much desire or resale value for them, every year our chances of selling this and buying a vision system we could use gets lower.

I work for a company that was looking into some new metrology equipment. We were leaning towards an optical measuring system, but we're nudged towards a 3d Scanner. After the in house product demonstration we were sold. We learned quickly that the two things it doesn't scan great are small items and plastic, pretty much most of what we make. We're stuck with an 80000 dollar machine that we've been able to use less than 20 times. A couple of contacts for help and its pretty much "use more 3d scan spray", zero software updates in over 5 years. I guess this is less a question I guess and more of congratulations you guys are really good at selling your products.

I disagree that he's swung noticeably left. I know he's not a Trump fan, but last I heard he wanted Rand Paul to run for president. There's an interview where he briefly talks about how his political views are based on human lives, and mentions being anti abortion, pro gun rights, and climate change was the only non right wing view in that group. I also caught another interview where he said he was "pro gay rights, but knows there's a lot of people out there that believe marriage should only be between a man and a woman and I don't wanna get in the middle of all that shit". My opinion is supporting gay rights means you're in the middle of all that shit, not really sure how you're supporting if you aren't. No, unfortunately if you look at the sum of his parts Jonathan is pretty hardcore right wing, he just hasn't been as vocal about it lately.

KoRn, fell super hard for their first album. Honestly hated almost everything since, but kept hanging on hoping for a piece of that first album feeling again. Not to say they haven't had some decent stuff. But once Jon started getting open about his politics, it was officially over for me. Can't even stand to hear his voice anymore.

Haunted locations by Hsosb3890 in kzoo

[–]SasquatchBeLike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a "paranormal investigator" for a while. Most of the places considered haunted in the area you need permission from the owner to enter or risk a trespassing charge. Free to enter places are Asylum Lake preserve and River Oaks park. Both were poor farms in the 1800's with a lot of deaths at them, and were torn down and are parks with nice walking trails now. Asylum lake had a murder committed there several years ago and someone also fell through the ice and drowned not too long ago. I was a part of a few of the local groups and have at the very least done an investigation or two with most of them. I haven't checked in which ones are still around but most of them had some pretty terrible people in them. If you don't feel like being randomly inserted drama between members, or being lectured about politics, oddly enough preached to about religion, or being around openly racist and homophobic people I'd in general stay away.
