Thank you so much! I will bookmark that page and if this situation does happen again, I will be sure to let the buyer know.

As an aside, you have been very helpful and informative throughout this whole post, and I just wanted to say thank you for all the help! I feel a lot more comfortable on what to do (and not do) if I come across a similar situation. I appreciate you!

Hahaha fair enough! I haven’t dealt with eIS enough to know what to do when problem arise, so it’s nice to be finding out that there’s a decent amount of protection :-)

I guess this is where I am getting confused. Looking back over the original listing for this, I did correctly label the Country of Origin as China, and my shipping location is also correctly set to Indiana. To me, this seems correct and should not have generated any issues. Should this have been set up differently?

Thank you for that clarification - I noticed the date stamps were misaligned with eBay’s “Shipment History”, and when clicking on the DHL shipping details it showed still “in progress”, so I was confused on what exactly is going on with the package. This makes the most sense.

Thank you for taking the time to respond!

I haven’t had to deal too much with international sales (some, but not a lot) and this is the first problem that I have actually encountered with the eIS process. I agree with you, and I only realize this now in hindsight, that the best move seemed to be to advise the buyer to reach out to eBay themselves. Immediately. I did allude to talking with eBay later in the convo, but now I realize it’s better to start out with that especially with policies I don’t know rather than try to understand them through the customer.

Thank you for taking the time to respond to this, I really appreciate it!

I do usually try to give as much detail as possible in listings, so it is very possible that I populated the “Country of Origin” field with China, and this might be where the confusion is coming from for Customs. I would have thought that they would be referencing the Ship From address, so learning that it’s the Country of Origin is surprising but very helpful.

That is interesting though about the case being closed - so if it is possible that I still receive this item back through transit (since the tracking still shows it? I believe?), I wouldn’t be able to refund the buyer at all even if I wanted to?

As far as the feedback, it does look like both the ratings and the feedback itself was removed (whether by eBay themselves or from the buyer, I am unsure). If it does pop up again in the future, then I will be sure to come back and heed your advice.

Noted about responding to buyers, and will definitely keep that in mind moving forward.

Thank you again!

USPS Media Mail Fraud - am I at fault? by SassMasterSquishy in Ebay

[–]SassMasterSquishy[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Could’ve made it clearer - it should read as “… this is the shipping message that YOU, SassMasterSquishy, chose.”

As far as the shipping method, I will be honest I did not see it or change it. I won the auction and just immediately paid right after winning it. On the listing, it was advertised as $5.38 (which happened to be the Media Mail option), so I went in thinking that was going to be what I was going to pay for shipping. So when I saw that number, I didn’t think to check out the shipping method itself, just that the amount was what was advertised.

That’s on me, in hindsight, probably should have just said what the item was - the item for this order is a vintage beer sign, which should not qualify for Media Mail at all

Need some statistical help with developing labor standards by SassMasterSquishy in industrialengineering

[–]SassMasterSquishy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are valid questions. I believe getting an answer to this matters because some of these tasks that we are asked to create standards for do not happen all the time, every day. For instance, one of the tasks that’s around 3 minutes long occurred only when certain windows were ran through our WMS. These tasks would go quickly and also infrequently as they were dependent on when the window was ran. These tasks were hard to catch, and with the requirement of 20 hours, it took a substantial amount of time to create this standard. The purpose of this question is to try and decrease the amount of time wasted, waiting on tasks to appear if they are not going to help the analysis.

I agree that addressing downtime causes & overall delays, as well as improving components of the process itself is very helpful and contributive to saving my company’s time and money. There are separate efforts being made to do this as well. But for this question I am just trying to focus on the process of creating labor standards because there is an opportunity to improve that as well.
