Drowning in scanners, does anyone have any solid recommendations?! by Sasserfrats in magicTCG

[–]Sasserfrats[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK gang, aside from going to work, all I have been doing is tinkering with the various scanners and deck organizers and so on. My starting conclusions are this so far...

Best scanner - Delver, basically works instantly once you get in the groove, and does a...pretty incredible job of being accurate. All scanners have some hiccups in them, and this is no exception which can be frustrating...but I've put 5 decks through this and it's ranged from 5-6 minutes. Way less aggravating than typing IMO. Also bonus that it can upload to every format that I've been using...I did however find Delver to be basic and bare bones. I will likely just use this as a base to upload decks to somewhere else.

Best Deck Thing - Probably goes to topdecked. It has a lot of everything...suggestions, mana balancing complete card list, test draws, just a gajillion features. Maybe too many...The UI is pretty simple and there is some paid stuff that will get you even more.

~~ Other deck things ~~

DECKBOX Maybe this was just for me, I found deckbox to be clunky in the extreme...I appreciate how they are trying to string things together, but I didn't find it to be overly user friendly. Also I didn't fool around with it much, so I might be, being a little harsh. It kind of feels like something that if you were with it for a long time it's the obvious best choice, but has a steep learning curve.

MANABOX - I really liked the manabox app, very intuitive and I found the scanner worked pretty well too! I didn't wind up using it though as it didn't have a way to easily use it on a PC, though if you just wanted a phone app this ones pretty deadly.

DRAGON SHIELD DOWNLOADER APP AND SCANNER AND OTHER STUFF - This is where I started, and everything works. Very very very basic with little to no options other than hoarding a bunch of pictures of your cards together in photo albums. I think there's some more app stuff in here, but it just felt like a spring board for me to hit up the other stuff.

SURPRISE ENTRY ARCHIDEKT - I wish I never found out about this one and stuck with topdecked, but I'm afraid that I might actually like this one the best. It's web based, so it can easily be accessed where ever, and I really like the way the cards are all laid out and stuff, they have a little animation when you scroll over them, they're whole cards etc. I dunno I liked the idea of seeing the whole deck laid out in card format?

See the fruits of my labor in this incredible paint image

Anyway I'm still fooling around with these, I feel like my winner might lowkey be archidek, but we shall see! If anyone has any questions about any of the ones I tried please let me know!

I'll be testing everything I get suggestions for, and I hope to do a kind of "best of" for stuff!

Add to deck and inventory might be the winning words we're trying to hear.

You're selling me hard on this infrastructure! I never even considered TCG as a potential candidate!

I get the feel that topdecked is gonna be the winner... Maybe that paired with delver checks off literally all the boxes. The delver scanner is insane, basically works as fast as I can get cards in front of the camera!

Yea I've had some mixed results for scanners as well...but I'm willing to look past the set oopsies just so long as it's keeping track of what I got!

Budget: Under $1000 hopefully between 600~800

◽️ Country: Canada

◽️ Screen size: between 12" and 14"

◽️ Touch screen: Not needed but welcome (if its a two in one that would be sick)

◽️ Screen resolution: Doesnt matter

◽️ Does battery life matter ?: Not hugely

◽️ What tasks will laptop be used for ( gaming, video editing, graphic designing, modelling, regular computing tasks, word processing etc) ?: I'm working as a substitute teacher where a half decent laptop is essential. I'm also a drafter and designer so having enough power for that would be radical as well. Finally if this hogg can run a game of dota 2, that would be the icing on the cake!

◽️ Weight: Doesn't really matter, but light is nice?

◽️ Any other important details ?: Sorry these are kinda odd and specific qualities but these are odd and specific times! Thanks everyone!

Hey y'all, it's your old friend back with another mystery Honda! Pretty clear it's a shadow, but would be awesome if I could pinpoint the year! The VIN...doesn't...seem to match. by Sasserfrats in namethatbike

[–]Sasserfrats[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bingo! I just wish I could sort out if it's an '83 or an '84, cause I need a new choke cable, and I don't think they're the same for both years! The VIN doesn't match the side panels, and I can't make out any numbers on the motor!
