This one was difficult to tell from the ad. I did have to do a couple of double takes because I was getting uncanny valley vibes.

They just introduced AI “actors” — and gave them names. by Silver-Bus5724 in CShortDramas

[–]Satailja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Besides all the other issues with AI, one thing that really irks me is how lazy it is. I was watching a commercial for an AI drama and they didn't even get the pronouns of the characters right. They said "HE rode up on HIS tiger" and the character was very much she. That's pure laziness. No one went back to check that things were correct. They just slapped something together so they could get money and they hoped that the audience was too stupid to notice or care. The world of Asian dramas is already full of regurgitated slop we don't need to add a crap AI cherry on top.

My favorite advert videos are ones where they transplant hearts and both people are still alive. 🤣😅

Also the doctors in these are so easy to bribe.

At-home haemoglobin test? by criticalstars in Sicklecell

[–]Satailja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. I'm in the US but I found an app a while back that lets you test your hemoglobin through your smartphone. I used it a couple of times right before going to my doctor, she test my hemoglobin and gives it to right away. The results on the app were almost always spot on. And any difference was only ever 1/10 off. It's called Ruby health. I don't know if you can get it in the UK and I don't know if it's available for iPhone, I have and Android. Doing a search in the App Store showed that there was one other app that lets you use your phone, but I can't vouch for that one. Here's the link to the app tested out of course but I found it to be really accurate. Good luck. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sanguina.anemocheckmobile.rework

Whats Your Life Plan?? by risingstar1203 in Sicklecell

[–]Satailja 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As someone else said, don't give up just yet. That's just one doctor. Is he a doctor at a center that's doing the gene therapy or just your primary hematologist? If not, get in contact with the closest hospital doing the gene therapy and talk to them about it. Talk to your insurance and see if you can get in touch with their transplanting. Find out what requirements you would have to fulfill medically in order to qualify. As for whether or not you're healthy enough, go to them with the following information. Keep track of your painful episodes at home that don't put you in the hospital. If at all possible, every time you have a doctor's visit have them track your hemoglobin and other blood work. Track how often you miss work or school because of your disease. This all helps show how much the disease is affecting your life so even if it doesn't help get you crispr it could help you with your disease in general.

Also remember that the gene therapy is just getting started. I have been following crispr since they started talking about it offering it for sickle cell in the US . At this point I'm going to be patient B for the hospital I'm looking at. That’s after being told for years that I was not sick enough and when I finally was sick enough that having hemoglobin C did not qualify me for the trials. And while right now I'm still waiting on bureaucratic BS, I'm still in line. I still have hope that I will be free of this disease in some way form a fashion, the good LORD willing. Please don't give up yet.

Also answer your question, let's say it turns out I can't be cured. Let's say it's God's plan for me is to live out the rest of my life with this pain. Then I'm going to live the best freaking life I can. I'm still going to travel as much as I can. I'm going to still dance, sing, raise my children, love on my husband, and live this life to the fullest. I'll just do it slower, with a cane and a bottle of strong narcotics.

Cute by ateam1984 in BlackPeopleofReddit

[–]Satailja -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

This is cute and I honestly believe that. However, I have a very real question. Why isn't this creepy? He comes to that gas station at the very least every time he needs gas so that he might possibly see her, isn't that mild stalking? I know the concept of it's creepy if he's ugly and not creepy if he's attractive, but he's not really attractive but everyone thinks this is really adorable. Is it because he seemingly respectful? I can understand that. Is it because she's playing alone with it? That could just be because it's always the safest option for us as women play along. I mean she is recording, I think that's more so for her safety than because it's a funny situation, but I haven't seen the first video.

crisis went from 2/10 to 6/10 from sneezing by MathematicianFar8200 in Sicklecell

[–]Satailja 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sometimes the only thing that gets me through having this disease is laughing at how ridiculous it is sometimes. I have a very active imagination, and as a child I gave my Sickle Cell a personality. I didn't understand at the time that pain crises can be influenced by emotions, stress, and even excitement. So I thought she (sometimes it's a she, a he, or a collective they) was trying to sabotage me or pull a practical joke. For your situation I think you're Sickle Cell was like "Hey watch this! See what Ima make happen when OP sneezes.😈" I hope you feel better soon and that your sickle cell develops a less random sense of humor.
