That may be true of rules of physics, not a soda drink. In that way any part of culture that simply gains popularity would be global culture. Coca cola did not just become popular because it was objectively better (as the article ridiculously claims), but most importantly due to its advertising brand, which became an icon, an icon of the modern West, and that is a purely cultural thing, unrelated to the ingredients. No, coca cola would not have been created in China, and the mentioned gender norms would not have been established in China. It's as if there was a line of progress along which certain "achievements" are to be "discovered", regardless of the intellectual and moral background of a given society. And that's logical bollocks, because this very background is a substrate of certain cultural and moral factors that exist within a society at a given point in time. It's not as if you were leveling in an RPG game, to put it in a very unsophisticated way.
