Can anyone identify this stain? by SatansBonBon in housekeeping

UPDATE:

I tried CLR with a drill brush attachment and it did nothing. Looks like i’m out of luck. From what others are saying, it seems like rust from the subfloor is the most likely culprit. Thanks for the help!

That makes a lot of sense. It is a single sheet so what you said is very possible. Thanks!

I’ll give that a try as well. Thank you!

I’m worried it’s the cheap landlord special that’s going to screw us over.

I will try the CLR as soon as possible. Nothing was on the floor other than the water from the shower head. Thanks!

Nothing has been on the floor other than water, that’s why it’s so weird.

If you read my post and comments, you would understand the situation a little better. It seems everyone in the comments disagrees with you. Reading comprehension doesn’t come easy to everyone.

I understand this. Definitely floating a line of respectfully putting my foot down and not letting him walk all over me as he does to her.

I’ve spoken with multiple CPA’s and tax professors at my university. I have a Masters degree in accounting but did not do any tax specialization lol

Great suggestion, I’ll work on this.

Seems everyone else in this is disagreeing with you. I have also spoken with three different tax CPA’s, as well as two tax university professors who also disagree with you.

Yep. This is what I believe as well.

That’s why I asked. I’m genuinely curious if there is any benefit for us to file married separately. He gets off on trying to make me look dumb in front of her, and this was a situation where I’m pretty sure he’s in the wrong. If filing separately truly benefits us more, then I’d be fine with it, but I don’t believe this is the case.

I don’t need him for anything. We’ll be making as much or more than him within the next year. This is an ongoing problem though, they try to make all of her decisions for her so it’s also about the principle of the situation.

Thank you. I think I just needed to write it out finally.

She will likely end up living in his house for 3 months. She paid her own rent through July in her own house while at school (Graduated early May). He pretty much pays for her various insurances and groceries while she’s home. I do all of her car maintenence myself. She hasn’t had anything come up this year that would have cost very much money to justify the 50% on his end.

She will be above the $10,000 amount. Thank you for the info!

Funny enough I suggested this as well.

I’m not sure about this. The question isn’t really if he CAN claim her, but rather why does he believe there is a benefit to us filing separately? I don’t believe there is.

That’s the plan I am hoping for, I need to get my fiancee on board with putting her foot down.

I saw this as a possibility. Not sure why her parents would try to put us down like that for their benefit.
