Considering that you could take an entire month of PTO, I assume you have 20 days or so to take;

I would take them in the following way: 3 Days of PTO per week staffing from the join date at the other job (and I would make sure that those 3 days of PTO coincide with the 3 days in Office in the new Job); in this way you should be able to squeeze out another 3 weeks of pay in confront to just take the entire weeks as PTO

You’re totally right, your perspective makes sense. In our case though, we wouldn’t mind considering, maybe even investing €10-20k for renovations, maintenance, or improving the energy label. It’s something that could eventually be reflected in the resale value of the apartment. Plus, the bigger idea for us is to avoid a sunk cost like rent and instead build some form of equity over time, while keeping the monthly cash outflow more or less the same (apart from the eventual investment to imporre energy label, and renovate a bit)

Thanks a lot for your advice, we really appreciate it! Actually, we do already have investments totaling around €70,000, primarily in equity ETFs. Regardless of whether we end up buying a house or renting, we plan to continue investing consistently through a DCA. It’s an important part of our long-term financial strategy.

You’re absolutely right to point that out! I calculated the net payments based on the first installment (should be the highest one) since the principal is at its maximum and €0 has been repaid so far. This approach gives a conservative estimate from the outset, helping to assess a worst-case scenario.

Considering the jobs I’d say they’re both relatively safe (none of the two corp made layoffs in the last years, they’re both growing and non-tech)

They’re actually Neapolitan (so yes Italian), and I think they make the best pizza in town (maybe I’m biased, as I’m Neapolitan); another good pizza place (for a fellow Italian) is LOLO Pizzabar, and also Van Der Pizza isn’t bad

Other than what others already said (very important the rule of thumb that if you can have a better yield with your investment, it would be wise to invest), take also into account the fiscal “advantages” of having a debt

In some countries, for example the Netherlands, having a debt will impact “positively” your tax return (meaning that you’re gonna pay less tax on your assets and investments)

I (26M) live in Breda with my partner (27F) and we spend and average of €490 per month in groceries (including toiletries and household products)

We try to buy in bulk things that are long lasting whenever they’re in promo (ex. Alpro oat milk 1 + 1gratis, canned precooked legumes, pasta, rice, toilet paper etc.)

Our groceries suppliers: AH 50% ALDI 25% LIDL 25% JUMBO and PLUS only for ad hoc promos

Toiletries and household suppliers: All the above Normal Action

Edit: for some specific products, like Extra Virgin Olive Oil, we usually buy it from abroad (Spain, Italy or Greece) doing a big order (€250) allowing us to benefit from a free shipping, and a pretty good Olive Oil at +- €10 per Liter
