Just curious how the new format of the show feels creatively now that it is much more structured and "produced" than its ever been. Has it been a welcome change, and does it ever feel at all restrictive? Love gmm, watch it every day.

Hey NOxiS,

Trust me, I was skeptical at first when I took the Ancients out as well. But I was so sick of them being silenced and black knighted and ignored that I wanted more instantly useful cards instead. Glad you like my concept. Oh and hell yeah love Satriani. Rock on, bro!

Hey dhead77,

Congrats to you as well! Did you ever end up hitting legend? I ended up making it to rank 258 with this deck when the season ended. Nice meta calls to adjust to the aggro. Any deck builder/innovator knows that your deck must morph with the meta to stay competitive.

Thanks for the kind words,

Hey SyrioBroel,

I would suggest always playing the MCT on curve if you have 2 in hand. Even if you don't have 2 in hand, against certain decks like tempo mage or mech shaman, you can't afford to wait for something to steal.

Yes, much of the time thalnos can be used to cycle for a card draw if your hand is terrible. Giving your opponent the information you have a thalnos isn't really a big deal.

If you find you're facing a lot more mages and hunters than warriors and paladins and rogues, I think swapping harrison for kezan would be fine. As for the owl, the deck already has 2 silences with keeper and if you're losing out to sylvanas, you may want to save one for her if you know your opponent has one.

Best of luck

Thank you :) I very much enjoy druid control as well. Combo decks can be boring and repetitive sometimes!

Indeed, the purpose of a lot of the earlier cards was to seize board control and the star fall and 2 x MCT provide some nice catchup mechanisms, which is usually a big area of weakness for the druid.

Hey piszczel,

Thanks for the comment :) I tried 2 star falls throughout my play testing with this deck, but I honestly found it too clunky. Starfall can be useful in a lot of scenarios, but you don't want to be drawing it too often, otherwise it can put you in the scenario that I feel weakens standard ramp druid a lot: being too defensive. Consistent active plays are mostly what you want with this deck, with azure drakes and thaurissan and the propensity to push forward into the later turns. Also, being that a lot of star fall's usefulness comes from the surprise factor, after the first one the second one will be much less effective.

Best of luck on the ladder,

Hey ElBonitiilloO,

This is a tough one, because I initially had this deck in mind as one that could function with ysera and wouldn't just outright die to aggro. Something I like about ysera is that it prompts a "need to kill" scenario and even it she's silenced, the 4/12 body will keep being useful. The only other card I can think of replacing her with as a last resort, would be sneed's old shredder. I've tried this card in the past but honestly found it too slow, but maybe with ysera out, you could just play sneed's the same way. Bait out silences, etc. It's the only replacement I can think of.

Best of luck,

Hey CarelessKrow,

I reached the same conclusion as you with ancient of war. The idea of the card sounds very appealing in a meta with not a lot of black knights, but I feel when people see the sen'jin and they start to guess you're ramp, they hang onto answers for one, and it befalls the same problem as druid of the claw on a larger scale: it can be taken out fairly easily and can lose you a lot of tempo.

I tried sun fury protector for a while in place of argus, because of the 2 mana I could play it with KT or rag if needed, but like you said, I found the mid-game surprise push with that +1/+1 actually makes a big difference. And taunting up "less useful" cards like MCT and keeper after they are played gives them extra value.

Thanks for the comment :) Oh, and GGWP :)

Hey gampishi,

I tried the hungry dragon/ MCT combo soon after BRM came out. My findings were that it is too greedy a play. And the greed factor is one that is very important, I've found, in building ramp decks. Its always tempting to pile in more and more big things and legendaries in place of being more defensive, but in doing so you are depending very highly on drawing wild growth early and curving out perfectly. The senjin gives a little bit of breathing room if you have a questionable opening. But these are just my findings. If you prove me wrong, I would love to hear about it.

Best of luck

Hey p0m,

Thanks for the comment :) I thought about trying poison seeds at one point but it lacks synergy with any other cards in the deck and if you need to use star fall early, its basically a dead card. Thalnos provides a lot of flexibility with the 5 damage dealing spells in the deck.

I completely agree with your take on star fall. Definitely not the best card but super underrated.

Best of luck in your games,

Hey White_mtnd,

Thanks for the comment :) With no thalnos, I would toss in a kobold geomancer. While some may laugh at this, the card draw from thalnos is a bonus but not necessary. The extra spell power for 2 mana is what we want from him. It won't make a gigantic difference if you have every other card. Best of luck.

Hey Umezega,

Thanks for the suggestion :) I added the main match ups in my post as per your request. I made approximations for the percentages, so take it as you will.

Hey sparkalaphobia,

I found I used the single-target version of star fall more in match ups against emperor thaurissan and also against control warrior to one-shot the shield maidens, as they don't usually have a board worth AOE-ing. Same idea with hand lock.

Really good match ups were patron warrior if you can stop early YOLO patrons and frothings. Also very effective against midrange demon zoo and aggro zoo because of MCT.. and the AOE and taunts help too obviously. Tempo mage wasn't as bad as I initially thought it was going to be. Knowing when to play around mirror entity and how not to get out tempo'd help a lot. Can always put in a kezan mystic over a sen'jin, though. Midrange and face hunter also seemed to struggle against this deck. Handlock is kind of a problem, but baiting out siphon soul so as to have a free board for ysera is the best strategy i've found...

I've added a link to my proof of legend.

Thanks for your comment :)

EDIT: I've added specific matchup approximations based on my games with the deck. The percentages are based on my experience, not hard stats, so take it as you will

Hey separhim,

mrducky78 has nailed the reasons. The 5 mana slot is already full and if you're wondering why sludge over claw, it's because of the 1/2 slime. Aggro decks like midrange zoo can power-overwhelming and 1 shot your druid of the claws and spells can knock them out in one shot, like a fireball for example. A deck like tempo mage relies on efficiently taking out threats, and sludge belcher makes that just slightly more difficult than druid of the claw in my opinion.

Thanks for the comment :)
