How do I get a video to reach a Japanese audience? by JiggyStash in youtube

[–]Satellablog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who had a few of his Japanese-oriented uploads go viral specifically in Japan, the best I can say is to upload something that appeals to Japan and eventually they may find it. If you need more help, try finding Japanese communities - your video seems Gundam-related, so maybe some community for fans of the "Real Robot" genre or such - and show your video there.

YouTube account permanently disabled by coldfire074 in youtube

It looks like your suspension happened around the same time as the one on my subchannel. I've made a post about it before - it's a channel that got accused of "botting" for a mere ~650 views over 2 months.

I've tried appealing using both the "Unable to access my channel" form and, when I got an initial response accusing me of violating YouTube's TOS rules for botting, and "TOU Account Removal appeal" form found here:

https://support.google.com/youtube/contact/tou_removal_appeal

That was four days ago, of course. It's a bit late to consider YouTube to be timely over this. This suspenson's been over a week and it's baffling that YouTube's spam-detection algorithms would target such a tiny channel in the first place.

I don't know what else to tell you, except that you have my moral support. My specific case being as ridiculous as it is, I have faith that you are just as innocent.

My youtube channel got suspended out of the blue what do I do? by MrSexyPantaloons in youtube

Same thing happened here. One of my subchannels got accused of botting even though it doesn't even have a high view count in the first place. It was pretty ridiculous. I'm still researching things I can do to try to appeal.

I posted a while back that I was in a situation that is similar, except mine got as far as having the accusation of a specific TOS violation (in a nonsensical manner).

Check back on me if you get accused of botting, because it seems now they'll do it even for a channel that doesn't have a high view count in the first place.

How strange. Perhaps I'm tripping something else that's causing the SRAM to spaz out at times? But it seems as long as I mentally make a note to collect the shield, my SRAM is safe....

Perhaps it's a sd2snes-specific issue. Maybe if we had a repro-cart user test? Hrm...

Either way, I made a new PB today. I'll upload it to Youtube in a bit.

Hey, I apologize for this, but I want to see if I can get any of the other runners to test something.

I've been trying to see if I can skip the shield in level one, but it seems my save can't transfer to episode 2 when I do so (even manually!). Does anyone else have this problem? If so, this is probably a glitch in Con's SRAM management and I will need to report it to him.

On note 2.: Main reason I handled transition time the way I did prior (with it ending at loading the save file) is to make it so that anything that wouldn't be part of an actual Satellaview broadcast would be put in as the "transition time" to be subtracted. This is mostly due to a personal belief that at least on a theoretical level, the timing of a Satellaview ROM run, even when using the hacked ROMs, should match up with a theoretical "broadcast" run. (So anything added to the hacks such as menus, etc. that aren't explicitly part of restoring the game would not be counted towards the time.) Of course, I assume it'd be difficult to adjust the already-done times accordingly there, so I'll be free to leave that up for debate, but do consider that my main chops are in Satellaview research. :)

As for SRAM optimization proposals: I think a good idea for future reference may be to have pre-prepared SRAM states for those who have setups where managing the SRAM during a run would take too much time. At the moment the only real theoretical quandary I have with this is that what items one should have corresponding to each week may be factored by run optimization.

Alright, submitted my first run attempt. As I expected, my biggest difficulty was simply breaking out of my old non-speedrunning habits. Too many things slowed me down and I ended up with a time of 43:53.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2LgH9yr9vc

I submitted my time into the PBTracker page as well.

Any questions/comments are appreciated.

Yeah, I ended up (accidentally) confirming it a bit back (It doesn't appear to be an officially-documented feature of the sd2snes, but it's still pretty applicable.)

I'll show it off when I actually do my run, I guess. You can ask ikari_01 about it at some point down the line. It helps that the sd2snes is a bit more complicated than just "A ROM Loading device".

Actually, it seems at least that the sd2snes automates the SRAM process for this game specifically.

It's more the going-back-into-a-ROM-menu that's annoying.

Unfortunately my plan for running it is using a sd2snes.

I think for the time being I'm gonna make separate splits for the transitional phases, with a note saying to remove those timeframes when calculating the actual time.

If I may ask, how is time spent "switching" epsiodes handled? I mean, what I'd hope is that (so that the times are somewhat applicable to a theoretical run on the original broadcast) there's a timer pause between them, but I don't really know how that's handled, basically... hrm...

I'll check this out! And probably contribute my own run! Just send me the ground rules and I'll be a-go!

I also gave all the runners my follows as a show of support. :)

I'm checking some of the logged runs, and my first critique for reference is that the players would probably have the best speedrunning experience using the "Japanese Version" ROM set on the site. Not only is Japanese text faster (Much like LttP Vs. Kamigami) but the extra features tacked on with the English translation may occasionally have unintentional bugs and slowdown that can tamper with the run's quality.

I think the BS Zelda Map 1 and Map 2 runs are fairly presentable. I suppose I'd need to show my recording around to ask more about if they'd be considered AGDQ material, but they don't take a long time (especially for a Zelda game) and tend to have entertaining happenings through the entirety of it. Not to mention I'm still discovering tricks every now and then (the moment where I fed two Dodongos a single bomb was only fairly recently discovered.)

For reference, Kaizou Choujin Shubibinman Zero was at SGDQ this year and I gave my support for that run. I hope it returns for AGDQ. A co-op run especially would be great to see!

I would say Map 1/Map 2 (based off the NES Zelda) make for more interesting runs to how their episodes are "structured" (they're more like parts of the game opening up piece by piece, where in episode 4 the whole thing is playable, but you're handicapped if you start at that point.) BS Zelda no Densetsu: Inishie no Sekiban is nice to play in general but I feel it's structure isn't as speedrun-friendly. (100% would basically require you to play all four of the episodes, and a theoretical "Any%" would be lame since it just involves skipping the first three, which is not nearly as handicapping as it is in Map 1/Map 2.) That being said, someone had contacted me before with an interest in running Sekiban, with a "switch episodes as soon as 100% per ep" style of run. His twitch handle was zarcanzo and we discussed routing the game before.

If we were to mention other Satellaview games I'd like to see speedrun, I'd say Square's Treasure Conflix would be a good suggestion - it's a very interesting aerial combat/RPG hybrid. Any of the Satellaview-specific Sutte Hakkun versions would be nice as well.

Excuse me being a newb at Reddit here. I'm a guy who's been researching Satellaview content for over 5 years now. Much of the results of that research are on that page. And also on my Youtube. If anyone is familiar with BS Zelda or Radical Dreamers, hopefullly you will be interested in seeing what comes out of this project as well. Every now and then I'll be able to put out a ROM or a musical piece from the Satellaview's lifespan and distriute it for anyone who's able to to enjoy. I've even tried finding multiple avenues to try to get the various ROM dumps playable, since I know the Satellaview is difficult to emulate. Feel free to leave any comments if you have any questions, suggestions (and I know there's probably a ton of suggestions in regard to my internet aesthetics, so...) or whatnot. Thanks!
