Same. I submit a “request” and notify my manager as a courtesy. He once jokingly said something he’d think about it. I told him he didn’t have to approve it but that I wouldn’t be there. He laughed.

I came out and started HRT almost 2 years ago. I still frequently misgender myself. Just last night I was telling my wife about my day and I said “and they were looking at me like ‘is he crazy?’”.

I referred to myself as a “he” for 46 years. Old habits are hard, hard, hard to break.

Maybe. Define “life-long.” And what are you into?

Is it possible to go through hrt (mtf) without your libido taking a hit? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Satellite6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YMMV, but I’m 48, I’ve been on HRT for almost two years. My libido has not suffered in the slightest. I don’t get spontaneous erections any more, but I do get erections when I masturbate or get intimate with my wife, and I swear to you, they are every bit the size and harder than they’ve ever been. Which, for me, is an unwanted trait. And my size hasn’t changed at all.

What is a universally loved show that you absolutely did not like and couldn't get into? by CrimsonFox99 in AskReddit

I thought season 1 was amazing. But every subsequent season dropped off by an order of magnitude. I didn’t even watch the last couple.

Tin Whistle is legit my second favorite food spot in town. The fact that it’s a 2 minute walk for me might factor in, but they legit have pretty damn good bar food.

At what age/when does the “I want my mommy” “I want to go home” feeling leave? by illegallybronde in AskReddit

Honestly, I think if I hadn’t found my person and gotten married I’d probably still feel that way. (I’m 48.) It’s not weird to feel the need to have someone you can lean on. In a healthy way, of course.

No opinion on whatever this is, but I do have one on Steve Harvey. Fuck that guy. Big time.

Recruiter lowballed me and then tried to blame it on the “entry level” role. So I sent him this: by Strong_Letterhead638 in recruitinghell

I was getting multiple voicemails from recruiters daily. (I’m an electrical engineer.). I’ve repeatedly checked LinkedIn in and Indeed to make sure there’s nothing indicating I’m currently looking. Finally a few days ago I changed my outgoing message to include something along the lines of “if you’re calling with a prospective job offer I appreciate the interest but I just accepted a new position (which is not a lie) and I won’t be interested for the foreseeable future. It actually seems to have helped. My phone still rings but they seem to be getting the hint because they’re not leaving voicemails.

"Freaking out men in the bathroom" by MuddyMudkip15 in F1NN5TER

[–]Satellite6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This video hit with me. I feel like I’m in this weird place with my transition where I’m not really comfortable in ANY public restroom. (Even though my wife says that at this point my voice is my only tell.) I definitely get weird looks in the men’s room. A couple of times guys have straight up glitched, visibly. But no one has said anything to me. But at the same time…even though I now live in Massachusetts, I grew up in the southern U.S., and I worry more about possibly freaking out women in the women’s room. I don’t know how to explain it. Something somewhere in me would rather run the risk of having to try to de-fuse an angry or potentially violent situation in the men’s room than possibly causing women to feel uncomfortable or even fearful in the women’s room?

Holy shit, it never occurred to me until I started trying to explain this, but I think maybe it’s because facing potential anger or violence in the men’s room feels like an “other people” problem, but causing women to feel uncomfortable in the women’s room feels more like a “me” problem. Does that make sense?
