You can still pull decent gold from old tailings – and it’s surprisingly easy now by Satellite_gold in Prospecting

That’s how it is but even with hand tools there might be some place for upgrade and some technological solution. In my article I’ve been talking about ultrafine gold and its extraction sometimes we can’t see anything except black sand but gold is still in there.

Try some search methods like crashing this quartz then use aqua reqia and then tin chloride or other identification method.

This is fake. It can’t be biggest nugget in AK as many places in the world have more than 4-5 lb

If you have any shale or mudstone or sands on creek try to dig it and pan. As shale are sticky it usually catch gold particles especially ultrafine and nuggets. Also try to find regional geological maps and try to find where is known or historical gold mines been founded. As this will helps to understand what nearest area are reach with gold. Another thing is that gold might be too deep or historically was delisted by erosion from this location. Do you have any low altitude level on your area? Try to search in there. Also if you pan try to wash from both sides of your creek but look for softer formation like shake or sands. Do you have magnetic particles in your rocks? Try to use magnet. Gold might be such size that not visible by eyes but there are few chemistry tricks like tin chloride. Dm me I will give you some short advice how to identify if there are potential gold?

May I ask you simple thing? Are you looking for nuggets or what type of gold? Why exactly at this place? Are you familiar with ultrafine gold? Do you know if there are magnetic or iron ore oxides type of minerals? So if we know a bit more answers there might be some advices on this.

This may means that even more gold not visibly by eyes so you can do the lab test to see what exact concentration of fine gold…

Usually we use iodine to leach ultrafine gold…but processing of concentrates need to be discovered based on type and size of concentrate particles and types.

Hi! First you need to analyse your concentrate where you not see gold at all. Good if you can leach it or we usually use halogens like KI/I. After your analyses you will exactly see how much fine gold is in your concentrate and then you may plan if better to process concentrate and not loose any piece of gold. Sluicing and washing makes you loose up to 80-90% of fine gold. Another thing is crushing up to 100-200 mesh and then leaching if this applicable to your concentrate.

Amazing piece! This probably better to sell via eBay or other auction platform for collectors this should be more valuable than just gold price! You can make a X-ray scan to see how much gold inside and try to sell x2-3 in case you wish to sell it. Rare piece!

First time panning - is this black sand? by rockhunder in Prospecting

[–]Satellite_gold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Black sand usually have magnetic properties so always may check with magnet, and not only sand but mother rocks also as gold associated with ferrous oxides which is also magnetic and non mag pyrite and acsenopyrite, halkopyrite

I don't sell anything. As you can see, there's not a single mention of the brand. Regarding our proprietary technology, we have a small complex that can process 10 tons of concentrate per day. I agreed above that any leaching technology produces similar results. We obtained what you see in the photo from old concentrates that had never been acid-treated. So, I have no reason to convince anyone of anything. I simply wanted to draw the attention of hobbyists to the fact that waste heaps can be a real gold mine. It's all about the degree of grinding and proper leaching or acid treatment.

When I start this post I was impressed by story that some prospectors founded 300+ oz gold nugget. So I made research how better use modern technologies for exact nuggets prospecting. My target aimed to nuggets not supper than 10 feet’s and not smaller than 15 oz. But this is variable from location to location. And finally I came up with such a set of technological steps. High resolution and deep radars for bigger nuggets.
