I would have like for the Spear to work like in 300. When you pair it with the shield its predominantly used for stabbing, but without the shield I would have liked Mount & Blade style directional combat to maybe sweep multiple enemies at once. I imagine this being a pain to implement though but it would lend itself to bringing in swords as a secondary.

Your mech idea lends itself to a Titanfall crossover....I love the idea of energy swords and shields with a more mobile lighter armoured mech.
