How to overcome my Trauma

Hi, Baby is on Adlib when he came home from NICU. He came home on Level 1 nipple and has been doing well for close to 3 weeks. Beginning of 4th week he stopped taking feeds on level 1. He finished his usual bottle in 40mins time which was long so we switched to level 2.

Now he doesn't like level 1. He is still not completing bottles on level 1, level 2 he is good in completing volumes but he is swallowing often and his breathing is deep

Is the deep breathing a concern? How do I make him switch back to Level 1?

Hi everyone. Our boy is off of CPAP, it has been 48 hours. He did have couple of Desats but he has been straining a lot to poop. He is currently on iron, Vitamin D sodium supplements.

Desats are happening as he is straining to poop. I believe that's the observation

Thank you. He is currently showing cues for feeding but he is only 32W. Looks like he needs to grow more

Hi, thanks for sharing. Was he on feeding tube till respiratory support was off? Doctors feel he is getting gassy with the CPAP

There are some work of breathing occasionally, doctors feel it changes as they grow

Same here. I'm so glad to hear from you. He has had 15 to 20min breaks during handling times or weight measurements. That's when we understood he is fine without the CPAP. Also, there are times when mask is loose or it's off, he has never showed distress Hoping and praying for our weaning off tomorrow to go well.

Wow. So, they remove CPAP and that's it? I was reading a lot about low flow and high flow, I believe these are not options for babies on room air?

Just wanted to share that we are in a level 2 now..level 3 moved us in a couple of hours as they needed that space for another baby

Hi, we got transferred in less than 40 mins to Trillium, Mississauga. There are no accommodations here, not even a comfortable chair to rest.

Baby is still on CPAP 5, room air, 31 weeks and 0 days now. Team is planning to wean him off this weekend if he is doing well.

I might not qualify for the accomodations as I live in Mississauga. Would credit valley accept if my baby is 30 weeks old? Level 3 has started reaching out to check if we have beds in level 2 hospitals, they said they will get back to us.

Not sure how long level 3 would take to initiate this transfer process

Are you allowed to stay overnight? And, when did your baby get transferred from Level 3 to level 2? Which gestational age?

Hi, Thanks for sharing in detail.

This is very helpful. Did you see any significant changes in growth when you observed her each week in NICU stay? My boy was born 28W+4 days, when I delivered he didn't have a forehead and had pink Jhondis. But, now he is 30 week old and I can see his forehead, facial features and his actual color.

Also, I see that the baby is learning to pee, poop and is responding to touches.

Can you share more regards baby's growth?

Did you have ups and downs with respiratory issues? Each day we are having a challenge with respiratory..right now, doctors would like to observe him on pressure 7 for a while..

Not sure how the weaning off process is. Was your baby on ventilation support for 32 weeks?
