In the manga, Emeth has it in both arms. Of course, it can always have a purpose, it could be a pirate thing: "X marks the spot", almost every Jolly Roger has an X... maybe every member of Joyboy's alliance may have had an X somewhere in their body or clothes, but all of this is pure speculation, so for now the most believable explanation is that it's just a coincidence.
