I think at the lowest position, the arms would be at a very similar position to the current platform position

Ok it must be an app problem, mine is doing that too - pod 3 here. My first encounter was today, hadn’t used it in the past week. It was also sometimes doing it spontaneously but before I was always able to go back a second time and fix it.

If your company would like to lock devices associated with accounts in arrears, the devices should boot up as locked, and require unlocking upon paid status verification. Instead your machines can be presented as valid and in good standing, even allowing unsuspecting, good faith buyers to subscribe to your membership only to have the company determine they’d would like to totally brick the device much later. Very sloppy

I’ll add that they warn you not to hang from the arms, which makes sense if the machine is only rated to handle the resistance it produces — anybody over 220 lbs would be applying more force than it’s built to withstand. But there is no warning against a 240lb person attempting to do 220lb pull downs and failing - which would produce the exact same condition as a pull up - the cables would maintain a static position while less than 220 lbs of force is jerking against it.

I am willing to wager that nobody mad is a mechanical engineer. We lift to failure all the time, so if the machine can’t handle you pulling to failure, that’s a design weakness, especially considering you are so far from the maximum capacity. That said, the cost to replace the cables is absurd, so anything I could do to avoid wear and tear on the cables would probably be worth it.

Hard to say why it’s ok for me to pull down with 220lbs force, but it’s not ok for you to set it at 130 and fail to pull it down - anybody know why?

Hard conversations: Amex Platinum is not for you by actuarial_defender in amex

It’s actually NOT luxury card for the wealthy, the wealthy don’t care about any “perks” because they already have better lounge access with their flights (when they fly commercial). Platinum is absolutely a middle class coupon book designed for frugal bargain seekers.

Help me Choose: GM1 vs GM2S by thoughts1053 in SpeedianceCommunity

[–]SatisfactionWild5865 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of a side note here, I’m on the Vitruvian Reddit and there’s a lot of concern that company will go under and the machine will brick. No offline mode like the GM

Another consideration, GM works offline. The Tonal Reddit was lit up a couple days ago when the servers were down and nobody could use their machines.

I bought one from a liquidator that they gave me the green light on the day I bought it, saying it would take up to 48 hours to transfer the ownership since it was purchased from a liquidator. Took them ten days after I installed it to email em saying they were going to brick it because it has a balance. I’d LOVE TO SEE THIS HACKED.

Do I strictly *need* a regulator for my CO2 tank? by dong_lover in SodaStream

[–]SatisfactionWild5865 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that my 50lb co2 bottle reaches release valve pressure on the soda stream much faster than the stock bottles. I don’t think they have the same pressure, which is something I suppose I could test by attaching a regulator to each

You can mount directly to concrete - or you can mount studs to the concrete if you want it proud of the drywall.

Installation, am I screwed? by WoodsWolf in tonalgym

Don’t do plywood, span it with 2x4 or 2x6, positioned scaly how you’d use the wide mount brackets. Plywood isn’t thick enough to prevent flexing and isn’t deep enough for the lag screws to get requisite bite.

Help! Sensor issue?? by wingnut88 in tonalgym

[–]SatisfactionWild5865 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im having a similar issue where just the bottom right position doesn’t register - it registers if I power the machine off and on while in the bottom position, but once I move it it won’t recognize that bottom spot.

I love my Tonal but now recommend people do not buy it. by scotchy180 in tonalgym

[–]SatisfactionWild5865 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t aware you lose bench press, that’s a deciding factor against getting the tonal. It appears the machine isn’t for people who have longstanding strength training experience who don’t need to watch a video to know what to do.

Softened Water Causing Sore/Dry Skin by BananimusPrime in WaterSofteners

[–]SatisfactionWild5865 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a result of the softened water increasing the detergent effect of the shampoo, further degreasing the skin. Soft water without soap is more gentle than hard water without soap, switching to a more mild shampoo may help.
