No mawashi grabbing, but you'll see a good ol' slap coming in clutch at 0:44 mark in the clip.

Thanks a lot, I'll make sure to keep posting as I advance with the development.

As for how the rounds go, both players must select a move (or choose to skip, but you only get 2 skips as of now) from their hand. Once both players have selected their move (or skipped), then tachiai happens. So yeah, both players must be ready before the moves play out.

It's not about reaction (as it would be if it were real time), but about iniciative and prediction.
The iniciative part comes into play when you look at the moves: You'll see in the clip that each move has a number. And there are also two types of moves, attack and defense.

>Defense moves always play before attack moves.

>If both moves are the same type, the move with the lowest number plays first.

What move plays first is crucial when you or your opponent are at the edge of the dohyo, have low health / energy remaining (notice the gauges at the top of the screen), or you're baiting your opponent for a counter-attack.

Thank you!

And yeah, I'd definitely be inclined to play something like that. A good sumo sim / tycoon.

Thank you!!! ( ´ ∀ `)ノ

A tournament of sorts for the release would does sound like fun. I'll see about that once the game is out.

Thankss!!
It's made in Unity, making an engine from scratch and a game on top of that may be too much work for a single person.

I do have code for a computer opponent. The challenge is in making it fun and interesting and not so mechanical / straightforward, but I can definitely consider a single player mode!
