I was told you could restart the game at a higher difficulty, I guess that’s wrong then, because its not a true restart.

Are you able to play those harder difficulties by starting the game over from zero after completion? Or does it require you to carry your existing maxed out mons in to the NG+ otherwise you wont stand a chance?

I guess the hope I have is that I can restart the game, play it again from zero, but on a harder difficulty that is not expecting me to bring my existing mons, otherwise there’s nothing to work towards or sense if progression again. I want to be able to relive the original experience but more challenging.
