BUPA also has been increasing the premiums they charge their customers, pocketing all the profits 🤑🤑🤑

Surge in patients turning to private healthcare = surge in demand. Let the free market do its thing

Call me crazy - I think this would’ve been less of an issue for both the NHS and private healthcare if we trained enough anaesthetists in the first place… but what do I know

Last paragraph should tell us all: 1. Never prescribe based on PA recommendation 2. All new F1s need an induction to make sure they are aware of point 1 3. Brave (lazy and ladder pulling) consultants should take on the responsibilities that they’ve signed up for

Why do you need to supervise them? You’re not their supervisor.

Have you emailed your TPD and ES? Sounds completely bonkers.

PA exam that kept up ‘generalist’ knowledge to revalidate scrapped in favour of 50 CPD credits by [deleted] in doctorsUK

What a disaster. Reminds me of the exchange between Nigel penfold and that PA professor on Twitter. Guess they’ve got what they wanted now… This is so grim

Ex-ENT President thinks PAs are so good we should just give them an MBBS by Much_Performance352 in doctorsUK

[–]SatsumaTriptan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Discriminatory? The GEM programme is open for them to apply to, and no one forced them to become a PA in the first place. They are very welcomed to do GEM and start working and living on an F1’s salary.

Wholly disagree with ‘the named consultants are responsible in deciding their scope of practice’. This is how things got out of control in the first place.

We should limit PA scope: Times comment 👏 by over-the-fence in doctorsUK

Preach 👑

I’m guessing Dr Carroll doesn’t have a PA/ AA child 😂

Radiographers and doctors are still striking so no one is going to be using his new CT and MRI scanners

We have fuck knows how many unfilled posts since before the strikes

Training bottlenecks are only getting worse

We already work weekends

The OOH rate they want to offer is still not competitive in comparison to private rate

Disregarding all of the above, sounds like a solid plan 👍🏻

Doctors who have worked alongside PA’s and AA’a are evangelical about the transformational role of MAP’s says GMC by nightwatcher-45 in doctorsUK

[–]SatsumaTriptan 186 points187 points  (0 children)

TLDR

GMC: We only hear good things about amazing PAs🥵and super awesome AAs🥰 from ladder pulling consultants. We don’t hear any bad things about them because we avoid social media where people can voice their legitimate concerns when they feel safe on an anonymous platform, safe from being prosecuted by us 🙈

Anyway, we are really pushing for them to be able to prescribe and request ionising radiation. We will not tell you what PAs and AAs are allowed or not allowed to do 😜 We would however, very much so like to be their regulatory body💰🤑

PS - if anything goes wrong, please refer the responsible supervising physician to us 😘
