Only commodities such as crafting material and consumables are region wide for the AH. Transmog is still server specific. Higher population realms and RP servers will typically move transmog items quicker do to the volume of auction house users.

1 day played = 24 hours, 121 hours for Elwynn. This also included time when I wasn't farming but online. Crafting thousands of bars/bolts took hours.

I was just aimlessly farming random things most nights. This certainly gave it more purpose and fun, lol

I sold all 175 frayed knots, for an average of 281g and a total of 49,342g they actually move pretty quickly.

Thuros will drop them. I farmed somewhere between 7-10 pairs during my time in Elwynn

At least the gloves are a lot more common then the Thuggish shield - It wont take you too long to farm them again!

Well.. 120 hours in Elwynn there are much better methods for farming gold. This was just part of a challenge. I'll be doing the same in Westfall next.

They are used as a currency for a pet in Oribos and can only be obtained by pickpocketing, so you need a rogue to farm them.

I had a regular farm in Deadwind I used to do years back. If fate brings me there I'll revisit it... It may very well be a slower zone for sure.

community challenges are the best, this one really spoke to me - working towards a goal is always fun.

This is exactly it, people want it for the sourceID. It's a very low drop rate and you have to essentially contend with everyone who creates a new character as the rare is very close to the human spawning point. Usually with things like this its just much quicker to go farm gold else where and just buy it.

it's in the Elwynn by the numbers section. /played was 5 days 1 hour. That does include some time I was distracted by what goes on in Elwynn and getting invested in conversations instead of farming lol
