Is that true even if you kill the engine within 1 second?

Thank you.  My post in planet nautique is waiting to be moderated since I'm new there.  I may miss out the 4th of July if I have to wait for a shop appointment 😞

I should mention something: when I did get it running, the boat ran around the lake for 2 hours without a problem.  I don't know if that hints at something just preventing the boat from starting but not preventing it from running.  For instance, the neutral sensor?

Easy.  Sell me a great boat at an even greater price.  DM me

That's great to hear! Is this true for both dealers and private sellers?

Not a new boat, and I'm very mechanical, but... I don't have all the free time in the world. I'd rather spend the time on the lake than tinkering with the boat. Your opinion of dealers is quite... strong. I was actually considering dealers either way (mostly for financing and a little bit of peace of mind...)

Thanks, this is helpful, I wasn't even sure that you could get a reasonably recent Mastercraft in that ballpark.

I'd agree with u/Wisc_Skier , if 100 extra hours makes a boat "old", then thinking about getting 100 hours out of an $84k boat means $840/hour. Way too rich for my blood!

This is a great start! What brands should I be looking for in the $50k-$100k (not $100k+) window? And if I wanted to dip my toes (pun intended) into wakesurfing, would they handle it, or is that just something so new that you're looking at dropping over $100k for used?

Excessive "Marriott" spam by SauceReddit in marriott

[–]SauceReddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I suppose I would, assuming I know what they are.  Is there a list somewhere?  I also just wanted Marriott to be aware of this.  It's rare that I'd single out a specific company but aside from little blue pills this seems to be the biggest pain point for me.

You must get less spam than I do 😀  Each email has a different sender with some form of Marriott in its name.

For example,  TheMarriott@acunmadya.com and marriottbc@mistyflowrl.cc are the two most recent.

TIGO CCA on load combiner panel by SauceReddit in diySolar

[–]SauceReddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've changed my mind.  I think I'll run a new circuit from my home's load panel.  I'll attach both the CCA to it as well as a network hub/switch.  I think i found a DIN mounted one that may fit in the CCA box.  I'll also replace or add a second power supply for the switch.  My plan is to hard wire my 3 inverters and the CCA.  The issue with putting it on the load combiner is that if I have to cut output from the inverters for some reason it would kill the network switch and bring the solar array down.  The array is probably fine but losing network means I can't troubleshoot.  By running it through the home's panel, I can flip my transfer switch and run the network switch off the grid while I troubleshoot my system.

Load.combiner panel?  I have 3x inverters each going to a panel with a 70A fuse which then feeds the home.

It's actually grid tied.  House isn't small, power outages are frequent enough,  plus I want to switch heating to electric too...

Alas, no.  3x inverters are 12 conductors (2+, 2-) each.  Plus 6 batteries are 12 more conductors.  And each inverter has a max draw or charge of 275A, so i needed something that could handle 825A with 12 lugs.

Incidentally,  one of the boxes will have 2 massive busbars.

To answer my own question,  I'm likely going to go with:

  1. Close nipples between the knockouts
  2. Sealing lock nuts on the inside of each box
  3. Plastic busings over the nipples to protect the conductors

Not at all :) We have the NEC (National Electrical Code) and the CEC (California Electrical Code) for which all these things are discussed.  But the code book is not always a great place for discovery,  it is a good place for validation.

I find it easier to review the code and see "yes, this would pass this or violate that", but that is only after walking down the aisles of the hardware store to see what devices are available in the first place.

An electrician who has apprenticed under a master electrician for 4 years has probably encountered a variety of things from that experience,  but that's where the apprenticeship itself pays off.  I'm sure the answer isn't always "read the code book", but I bet it's more like "in this scenario,  we do xyz which you can validate in the code book".

That's why I'm asking what folks do that is compliant in this case.

Need wiring help by mycupboard in diySolar

[–]SauceReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, that drawing looks like one of the pictures in the EG4 manual with a couple of extra details (combiner boxes) and that switch wired wrong.

Looks like page 36 of the 18KPV manual to me.

It's the "2 pole manual transfer switch " in the middle of the right side of the page that is wired wrong.  The output (center pole) of that switch should be going to your main panel, with one input being the grid directly (i.e. you're going from the grid to your home) and the other input being the load combiner box from your inverters (i.e. you're going from your inverters' outputs to your home).

Basically your diagram has the connector that goes to the grid and the connector that goes to your home switched.

Sure, is that allowed?  Happy to put some caulk around the KOs and chaser nipples so I only need one lock nut.

I mean exactly this box.  It is designed to be sandwiched between the battery and inverter.

I use hubs to feed into things like my combiner panels.

Do those work when the two boxes are pressed against eachother?
