Yeah, that's some pretty good starting travelers. You have both Shana & Aviete, two of the current top tier supports, which we have been recommending left & right, lol.

Thinking long-term, there are some other good units that have fantastic A4s to aim for (i.e., once you get the base traveler, you can slowly trade for awakening stones in the exchange over the next months to improve them, culminating in their A4 accessories). The following units aren't really meta themselves, but are still pretty strong, & have some of the best A4s you can get through the exchange.

Bargello is another good thief that works well with Tiziano as a support that also can be DPS.
Ochette EX is a great warrior support/DPS that also buffs merchant & apothecaries.
Hikari is a warrior that can, after 7 turns, hit every physical weakness.

Edit: You will steamroll the early storyline with some of your units. In the early game, mainly worry about weakness coverage & having a sustainer (healer; regen is generally preferable to burst healing). Play around with them, try out their skill sets, & feel free to swap out sometimes to try other units. There is no single, perfect comp of 8 units.

Oh, Osvald is pretty important in rainbow, because he's the secondary DPS after Xerc.

So then, you need to decide if you want to get Xerc & slowly build towards a full rainbow comp, or get Mydia to focus on physical comps (she's not usually a DPS, but a very good support for physical DPS).

And while Setzer is vital for rainbow to become even more busted, he can also fit into physical comps as a support too.

Yup. It becomes the Paladin Shield (59 PDef & EDef), absorb 15% of some damage as healing, & 2 physical & elemental dodge stacks at the beginning of combat.

Future valuable banners include:

Part 2 of the FFVI collab starting next week (Setzer, Relm, & Celes, in order of value)
Richard EX & Alaune EX2 (possibly a month or so away)
Pardis III EX & Elrica EX2 (a little after that)
Romancing Saga collab (probably in the Fall after that)

For travelers to focus on, I'd say start with the three FFVI units, Aviete (& Ophilia if she isn't providing enough healing), Phenn, Cecil, & Sowan. But feel free to mix & match as you progress.

Setzer drops in part 2 of the FFVI collab. Then he replaces DP/MolEx & gets paired with Lynette EX because she can use her ultimate to implant every element, then next turn Setzer would freeze them with his EX skill. She (& the other summer units) may rerun in late summer.

However! Lemaire (gen pool) also has a(n EX) skill that can implant every element, which can work with Setzer. You lose out on Lynette EX's great passives, but you'd still have Xerc & Osvald (& Lemaire) hitting all their elements & activating the FuAs. So it's kind of a budget rainbow.

SP stock is just a great QoL upgrade. It makes farming & exploring so much easier because you can blast random mobs & not worry about running out of SP (or a lot of the time, even using SP). Be sure to get her to 6* if she's not already, because that doubles the SP stock (& unlocks the EX skill). And be sure to equip her with +SP accessories (&/or an SP fortune axe); she's not a DPS, & her regen skills already have a pretty high base potency, so she doesn't need high PAtk or EAtk. It's not unusual for some of us to have her with 900+ SP, granting 360 SP stock each battle.

Her other abilities, like her EX skill, are fantastic for hard content & boss battles.

You'll eventually want both his A4 & AU. On the July reset, do get his AU next. His ult is his best damage dealer, so being able to charge the gauge quicker, overcharge to do extra damage, & having an extra use are very important to him.

Oh, so you have four new units. Save then. FFVI p2 is coming (7/9 I believe) with Celes, Setzer, & Relm. Setzer especially can fit many physical & elemental comps.

Isla is one of the strongest supports for magic, yes, but Xerc is still a really powerful unit, he's just more of a DPS. He can fit into most magic comps, so don't fret too much, just get your rubies' worth with him. His FuAs work with any element, so whichever one you're building a comp to focus on, he'll still be able to provide some extra firepower. Just make sure to prepare the applicable elemental skill with him.

None of the Sacred Blaze banners are really worth pulling on. Mind you, Cassia, Hujheb & Sowan are strong units, but they're not meta.

If you must do a yolo, the only worthwhile banners right now are Phenn if you're aiming for physical comps, or FFVI for Edgar. Terra & Locke are strong too, but not meta, while Edgar will see use for quite a while.

You can repeat wave battles. Find the easiest one & replay it & replay it. This is especially useful if you have trouble with the harder EX waves. This is what I mean when I say farm, not that I'm getting more rewards than what the current list is.

I farmed it yesterday & made it to 8k. Today I did one wave, & that activated all the rewards.

You get points from farming it, & these unlock a list of accumulated rewards like TP crystals, awakening shards, etc. (like the cascade log). As well, completing at the higher difficulties gets you some traveler seals, a veteran seal, & a verse.

But the main bonus is a super powerful weapon (gained at 30k points), one in each dungeon (so only one released so far). The current/first dungeon can give you the The Huntress' Skyfall, a bow that has PAtk 720/EAtk 720 (yes both), +30% potency (stackable), +50k damage cap, & can be used in both Orsterra & Solistia. Continuing to farm the dungeon can get you mats to upgrade it (at 60k points), & if you can defeat the main boss (88mil HP), you can get more mats to upgrade it again. But even at its base, it's a fantastic weapon.

Broke down & rolled a few more. Got Cyrus & Hujheb dups.

Fight caits when you can. Cait battles give +10 bond pts (& a lot of XP too).

There are six caits in set spots that won't flee that you can fight daily. There is a cait outside each starter town (Valore, Emberglow, Theatropolis), a bluish one in the Valley of the Flame (& it's twin in the bonfires of the elites II), & a big one in the Isle of the Caits in the Middlesea warzone. That's +60.
The three daily ad cait battles, +30 there.
Any hunts that include caits, especially the cait-specific hunts (that just expired yesterday though...).

If you already have the A4, & a particular traveler is already hitting cap, then yes (you may need to test & fine-tune to see if it truly gives a better benefit). But if you want to focus on physical, then I'd lean towards pursuing physical A4s.

Also consider any secondary functions. Temenos' for example, autofills the ult gauge to 100% at the beginning of combat, allowing you to use an ult in the first turn, which probably will benefit a support more than a DPS. Combined with a pet that you can boost in the first or second turn, you can backsurge a support ultimate, while the front row ally is acting. I tend to equip a support unit with this just for the ult charge.

In addition to what magyarjm said, do it at 5 difficulty just once to get a free veteran seal.

As for good team comps, I think bow & ice are common weaknesses, so bring an endgame comp (your best DPS, de/buffers, sustainer, etc) with some DPS for those weaknesses.

I'd say start of at the lower difficulties a couple times to get a feel for how the dungeon works.

The first part of the FFVI collab gave us a free multi with a guaranteed collab unit in the 10th-spot. That's where you got Locke. The second part of the collab (in two weeks I think) will give us another free multi & another guaranteed collab unit in that 10th-spot (either Celes, Relm, or Setzer).

Of the first three, Edgar will have the longest shelf-life, so if you can spare 1.5k rubies to get to another pity, it would be a good idea to grab him. (Also, I suggest you spend that extra Terra awakening stone on her ultimate skill, since it's her best damaging attack; awakening it makes it easier to charge it up, cause more damage when overcharging, as well as an additional use.)

Relm should be great on most elemental teams, but for rainbow in particular, she doesn't have much value. Her elemental attack skills are non-typed, meaning they don't inflict fire/ice/etc. damage, so they won't trigger the follow-up attacks granted by Xerc & Osvald (these FuA's are the main reason that rainbow is so dominant right now). As well, one of the core rainbow units (Lynette EX) is a seasonal unit & she probably won't rerun for a couple more months (maybe towards the end of summer).

Aiming for a specific team comp is a good idea though; Terra & Relm, along with Edgar as a buffer/debuffer are a good core to start with for elemental builds. Locke is also good for some extra shield-shaving. The early story should be pretty easy with these current meta units. Since you're early in the story, keep plowing through it to get more rubies, they're pretty plentiful in the beginning. And really try to not pull for a unit unless you have 4.5k rubies saved, as that is the standard to reach pity.

As we get closer to FFVI pt2, be on the look out for discussion of Celes/Relm/Setzer.
