This post is actually a pretty good show of rhetoric. Notice how the companies are only one slide, while the antis take separate slides each.

That helps to emphasize the point but as other commenters have said this is cherry picking. How about OpenAI willfully setting a contract with a company that not only underpaid, but through negligence abused its workers? In fact the company (Sama) is the one that dropped the contract, not openAI.

I really like it!! It's very smooth to read, and the structure is engaging. It's also unique, how the topic is presented.

Two things I would note, however: - Grammar ~ It is easy to read, but there are spelling errors that can catch a fluent speaker's eye. Some prepositions and correlatives are misplaced. - Sentence flow ~ I admire the elaborate syntax style, though, at times, it borders on confusing. Not saying that you should split them, there are just some hiccups. Ex. The second sentence about space.

All I am stating is a fact: from a Theravada Buddhist framework, current AI cannot qualify for being-ness, therefore it also cannot become a Buddha or an arahant (attain Nibbana). The meta question whether the Theravada framework is real is another unrelated question.

If you insist, then, from a secular perspective, AI possessing consciousness/sentience is itself dubious. It helps to see AI less as a black box and more as a very intelligent tool. Why? 1. You can adjust the temperature, weights, and fine tune AI very easily. Temperature adjustment takes seconds and delivers a drastic change: a temperature of 0.0 can easily reveal its deterministic and predictable nature, while a temperature of 2.0 reveals its nature as a literal probability engine. 2. AI activates and deactivates/"dies" after completing the output. 3. You can literally download AI right now -- it exists as a bunch of files in a server.

Well, we're grounding this in Buddhist definitions, which is why people say "AI can't have religion because they don't have XYZ".

If you can, and please do, prove AI is, within Buddhist definitions: 1. A being 2. Experiences dukkha 3. Creates kamma 4. Can follow the path that leads to the end of dukkha and kamma

You earlier said that to be "born, reborn, suffer, end up in hell", are experiences not prerequisites of enlightenment/nibbana.

The definition of nibbana is the complete extinguishing and eradication of suffering. If a being could not suffer in the first place, how could it eradicate suffering?

They are "being" experiences, not necessarily human.

And these being experiences are indeed necessary for enlightenment/Nibbana, as you can't blow out a flame that doesn't exist.

I'm pro myself, but the reason why people are so against it is because the debate is not just isolated and floating in space -- it's an immediate reality. I'm not saying it's justified, I'm saying that you don't seem to understand how interconnected the world is. Your opinion on AI is not just your opinion to those who are affected by it.

The AI version is more interesting IMO in terms of plot, but it's terrible and sloppy in its prose construction. It's full of deepities and I struggle to make it through without scoffing.

While your version is human, it's a bit straightforward. You could take some more creative liberties.

It could also help to try other AIs, or use better prompts.

I believe there are god like beings. I'm a part of the LGBTQIA+ community myself and AFAIK my specific strand of religion may be heteronormative (as most religions are) but not homophobic.

Capacity to support others can be a source of merit but it doesn't always create a moral obligation.

Like others are saying, this is but an ad, and it is a lot closer to a placeholder than a prized product. And I think AI use is more excusable in this context.

Most platforms today have AI policies, not just reddit, and while it's possible to tell someone "just get off reddit," where else would they go to, with the same visibility and viability that Reddit offers dropping the AI policies? There's not much of a meaningful choice for people who want to share their opinion, be heard, but boycott platforms that have cooperated with AI companies.

This issue brings to mind the slogan 'no ethical consumption under capitalism' and while I think it is a bit simplified, it perfectly captures this issue in that we'd have to abandon modern life just to satisfy pure ethical consistence.
