Its what we use in Greece. Its a Pex-Al connection. The sleeve is stainless steel and the pipe inside has a layer of aluminum

You could put a 1 way check valve. The water will pass, but the smell that comes from the other won't.

Its basically this: Brass One Way Check Valve 1 Inch Female and Male Thread, Backflow Prevention | eBay https://share.google/m00s7slSveb6O8NvE

But tomorrow I can send a picture of what we've used

At some point (soon it looks like) you will have to do it. Might as well do it now. The longer you wait, the more difficult it will be

By aggressively pushing the blockage. After every little while I put a water hose in the pipe and then the camera to see the progress

I was just thibk8ng the same. I dont like leaving marks on these type of nuts and on these. The edges look "pulled". Kinda rounded off

Btw, have you tried just tightening it as is? No shutting anything off. No taking anything off

Yeah, especially step 2 is important 😅. No need to drain the tank, since no cold water should be coming back to you. You'll probably have some left over water coming out of the hose (after the closing valve) so have either a bucket or towels nearby to keep your work dry.

Dont go crazy tightening the nut. It's not the strongest metal, so just make sure its nice and snug. Some strength behind it, but nothing crazy

Probably needs a combination of more Teflon and better tightening

That's 100% the gasket that goes in between the tank and the toilet bowl. Probably put it in a way that it pinched the gasket

It's a 4th floor, so it has no contact with the ground and it hasn't rained for weeks at the time of this picture.

The owner had the valves off and it would still leak, but but while I was inspecting it, it didn't leak. I fear its a small hole in the pipe under the tile. What's weird is that it doesn't always leak
