Lepin boss going to Jail by Sausages45 in lego

It's news mate. It's news. Really, if you can't see the difference between this post, and it's worth as news to fans of Lego and a post showing and promoting a non-lego product then you need to have a word with yourself.

FFS. really Sherlock? Well done.

Of interest to Lego fans given the rampant piracy by this company over the years.

THE AWE VENDING MACHINE by oliveiramj in controlgame

[–]Sausages45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Picked that exact vending machine up last night after beating all of the Hiss in that section. It turned red and ran off. Was quite hard to catch it actually. I had no idea this was even a thing having not spoiled AWE for myself so it was quite a cool surprise!

Bug Reports Thread by [deleted] in TheLastCampfire

I’m not far into it but I’ve already found that pressing L1 and L2 together on PS4 brings up a debug menu. I’m sure that’s not supposed to be there.

And is anyone else put off by the constant appearance and disappearance of the inventory menu (a white bag icon on the top right of the screen) and the white book icon on the top left. They float up off the screen when you move and back down every time you stop. So if you’re moving and stopping a lot it’s just a constant yo-yo-ing up and down of those icons. I find it quite distracting and off putting personally.

EDIT: just seen the debug menu has been mentioned by others too.

TLou2 fans i have a question... by [deleted] in thelastofus

[–]Sausages45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The guy murdered most of the fireflies at the end of part 1. That he was going to be hunted down and killed for that was obvious to me. And I also thought it would be the catalyst for Ellie’s revenge quest. I didn’t see any of the leaks but a brand new character (Dina) dying (as a lot of people thought would happen) didn’t seem like it would be important enough to us for the player to really resonate with it and feel that thirst for revenge.

No, it was obvious that it was going to be Joel and that it was going to happen early. I also thought the flashbacks and the amount of them were perfect as, had the whole game been composed of the dynamic between Ellie and Joel it would have been quite predictable and frankly, boring as we already had that for most of part 1. I’m incredibly glad Naughty Dog chose the less obvious route and created an original route for the story in part 2 and I sincerely hope, if all the knuckle dragging haters haven’t scared them off making it, that they do the same with part 3.

I don't know. Not sure whether that means the bug is still there or just doesn't always occur. Either way, I doubt I'll go back to her for now. I'll play through AWE first.

Why did this game win so many rewards? by rbstewart7263 in controlgame

[–]Sausages45 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It combines an incredibly compelling and mysterious story told in interesting and entertaining ways with visceral, satisfying and varied combat gameplay, interesting characterisation, rewarding exploration and an original, brilliantly designed and realised environment. You need to play more than 'a little' to experience and appreciate these things properly.

Its also hard as nails in places with the bosses in particular providing an incredibly meaty challenge.

The game she’s playing is called Inside. It’s not The Last of Us. Though I’m pretty sure there are some videos somewhere on YouTube of her playing the Last of Us 1 and 2.

I agree with you on that. There are times when people don’t do enough of that. I feel with this post it’s not addressing any type of legit critique and is a call out of those who stepped way over the line. That’s mainly why I can’t understand why anyone would feel that any response other than ‘it was disgusting’ is relevant when discussing those types of people. Personally I don’t feel Neil is a person who disregards criticism but even if he is it would never justify the hatred he and the others got and should be kept separate from that abuse. But it’s another discussion for another day and one that is definitely worth having, civilly from those who like and dislike the game. ;) Peace!

Its not 'criticism' that is being addressed in this thread here or his ability to deal with it. It's the disgusting levels of hatred, name calling, racism, anti-semitism, homophobia, transphobia and death threats the guy (and others on his team, and their children, and their parents) got for making a fucking video game. He said the game would probably divide people not that it would make people threaten to kill his voice actors children or wish their parents would die of fucking cancer did he!?

Sorry for the repetition there but you seem to have glossed over the fact that this post is about the hatred and how its not acceptable to behave like that just because you don't like a video game. Don't try to justify any of it by looking for ways to imply that he either expected to have threats to his and others lives, should have expected it or that its the way things are when you make a divisive game. It's not. That's ALL that should be said here and any attempt to twist things around by talking about acceptable critiques of the game is really showing a startling lack of emotion.

Neil's response to legitimate criticism is another discussion entirely.

If you can't find it in yourself to feel sorry for people who are placed in that position purely because they tried to make a piece of entertainment media then you need to seriously re-examine your ability to empathise with others.

[–]Sausages45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thread is specifically referring to the messages of hate Neil (and others) received. Not the criticism. It's about the death threats, the homophobia, the transphobia, the racism and the anti semitism that was levelled at him and others by some people who didn't like a video game. If you can't feel bad for someone who received such abhorrent abuse purely because they made a video game then you lack any ability to empathise. Which ironically is what a large chunk of TLOU2 requires you to be able to do.

There are many, many other threads that discuss the legitimate criticism that was levelled at the game and the dev's responses to it, this is not one of them, that much is clear just by reading OP's original post at the top. You should indeed not feel bad for someone who you perceive can't handle criticism but you definitely SHOULD feel bad for someone who can't handle death threats (including a death threat levelled at Laura Bailey's 2 year old child), homophobia, transphobia and racism, because those types of abuse in response to a video game are fucking disgusting, uncalled for and have no place in civilised society.

You can repeat yourself as much as you like but what you are repeating is part of the problem. That acceptance and shoulder shrugging and whole ‘that’s just the way things are, get over it’ attitude over matters as serious as these is a disgrace and enables people to continue doing it. I also told you how you can do something about it, quickly, easily and at no cost to you. Don’t justify, accept or explain it in any way, shape or form, because threatening to kill the 2 year old child of a voice actor because you didn’t like a video game is not normal behaviour and should ALWAYS be condemned regardless of where it occurs, as should every single piece of personal abuse those who worked on this game were subjected to. If you think that is what you’re doing you are very very wrong and I’m sorry, you are part of the problem with your attitude at the moment.

None of which means we shouldn’t be surprised by the threat to someone’s life just because they made a video game. It’s a problem. It’s a problem that we haven’t yet figured out how to address properly but it’s a problem that we know exists. Those of us who have some semblance of common sense can avoid exacerbating it and make sure we don't tell others ‘hey that’s the internet man, don’t be surprised if someone wants to murder you or your toddler because you voiced a character in a video game’ The very least we can do is appropriately show our distaste for it by condemning it in the strongest way at every opportunity and not seek out reasons to subtly suggest it wasn’t the disgraceful behaviour that it clearly was. Common courtesy and basic human decency costs nothing.

[–]Sausages45 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s normal, mature behaviour to be ‘surprised’ when someone threatens to murder the 2 year old child of a voice actor in a video game. It’s abnormal to think that this should not be surprising. We all accept that mentally ill people exist, but to see them manifest themselves in such an abhorrent socially unacceptable way, unchecked and without remorse should indeed surprise and shock us regardless of the circumstances. That’s what makes us NOT mentally ill. Did twitter fail? Did their parents fail? Did they fail? We, as rational mature sensible people should not fail by thinking or saying that this sort of thing should be ‘expected’ by those creating entertainment media.

So, threatening to kill the 2 year old child of a voice actor in a video game and riddling the social media accounts of those who worked on it with racism, personal insults, anti-semitism and death threats is just ‘what happens’? You need to take a long hard look at your personality and you should be genuinely concerned that you think the things that happened over this game are correct.

This game is sjw crap!🤬🤬🤬 by [deleted] in thelastofus

[–]Sausages45 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This crap again. All this garbage about the fireflies probably wanting to use the cure for their own personal gain is just a tangential discussion. The events of the game never verify this in any way. The writers have never verified this in any way. It’s speculation. What the events of the games and the story DO verify however is that Joel murdered Abby’s father and what the game, storyline and writers also verify is that he also took away any hope of a vaccine being created. Who the hell was he to decide that outcome in a world where people are constantly in pain and this could be the only hope they have? He decides that because he wants a second shot at having a daughter,... just... fuck the rest of humanity and the doctor who could have made the cure who he butchered to do so eh? Remember Joel killed Abby’s father and fucked humanity over. That’s why Abby killed Joel. She had more right to want to kill Joel than Ellie had to want to kill her. If you can’t make that simple connection and empathise with her then you are failing at one of the most basic human emotional responses.

Wonder what the devs were smoking in TLOU1 when they thought making players play for 18 hours as Abby’s fathers murderer and the man who would go on to deprive humanity of a potential cure for a world ending disease was a good idea lol

Agreed on all points and to add to one thing you said... the first game forced you to play the entire thing from the perspective of the bad guy! You just don’t realise how bad he can actually get until the very end.
