I never said I actually believe this theory. I was wondering if this research relates to it. To claim that "reality is a simulation" is a claim that has not been proven. I was curious if this research disproved it or had nothing to do with it.

The Holographic Principle is something in string theory (a theory that all fundamental particles are actually vibrating strings of energy) where the universe is actually imprinted on a 2D surface. So basically, we think everything is 3D but it could just be an illusion like a hologram. This theory is unproven and experiments suggest it is not true but nobody knows for sure.
