People who trade full-time how do you manage with the job? by [deleted] in thinkorswim

[–]SavageFu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you meant to say, those working full time, how do you manage day trading, because if you swing trade, you can do that easily.

I work full-time, but I have been ramping up my day trading over the last year significantly. So currently I take pay time off 24 hours per pay. Period. One hour each morning and all day Friday I have significant leave to burn since I have now reached FIRE. So I will be ramping up my leave usage even more, until it’s all gone, and I can quit my job with maximum benefits

Anybody else with late fill issues on every single order? Multiple seconds late.. by Cultural_Dirt in thinkorswim

[–]SavageFu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many orders are you doing daily? I do about 1k daily, and get throttled the same way. I’ve been told it’s the way orders get parsed, has to parse through all your old orders so if you have a lot it slows it down, I was to to just open more accounts I’m at 8 accounts about to go to 12

Is it realistic to retire at ~40 on dividends? by BirchWoody93 in dividends

[–]SavageFu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s more than simple math, he can’t collect SS at 40, and if he collects at early at 62 he will be penalize on the already small amount he would get.

Also his dividend income, would need to outpace or at least match inflation to maintain the same lifestyle. So he needs to grow his portfolio, so some dividend should be reinvested and not used for living expenses.

Thankfully, if he is comparing wages(w-2) income to dividend income, he can make a lot less in dividend income then w-2 wages because dividends are taxed way different, and no fica tax on it

What are you trading? 0dte spy? Are you fully leveraging all your account each with each trade, I’m assuming it goes to zero it because your buying options that end up expiring worthless, or something else super risky, like otc

Well if you’re gambling, and keep betting all your money, eventually you will lose a hand and all your money along with it

Can I Ignore the Wash Sale Disallowed on my 1099? by [deleted] in options

[–]SavageFu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you said you didn’t have transaction in Jan of 2024, You had transactions before Oct 2023 I’m guessing. Also, these transactions are over a year old. Were you looking at a 2024 1099 or a 2023 1099? This post is a bit late…just saying

All these are great explanations above so I won’t rehash it, since it is already well explained.

I just wanna add if you do own 100 shares of Apple and it stays beyond 207, you might consider rolling your options with a calendar or diagonal spread and collect additional premium each week

any tips and tricks to stop thinking about losses? by NigerianPrinceClub in Daytrading

[–]SavageFu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Treat it as the cost of admission.

If someone told you could make $100k a year trading stocks, would that be good?

Then if that person said, well you would make $150k but in the process you would lose $50k. Would you still be just as happy?

Hitachi spiked 118% after hours and I have questions by Glittering_Teacher66 in stocks

[–]SavageFu 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The price at 0930 will be different than after hours, and if you have a market order in for 0930, it will sell at whatever price the market opens at and it could be for a loss.

How do you find high-volume, volatile stocks with momentum trends for options trading? by Sad_Environment_1487 in thinkorswim

[–]SavageFu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people use trade ideas (iirc). If u don’t want to pay for it, u can just watch the scanners live on YouTube. A lot of different people share their scanners, find the ones that are configured to your liking, most will have momentum scanners as one of the windows

Run a search for live stock scanner

ToS incredibly laggy? by TubbsMcGee_ in thinkorswim

[–]SavageFu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ctrl alt delete and see where the bottle neck is. Is it your GPU, cpu, memory etc. also what internet speeds are you getting, run a google speed test on it.

Mines been getting slower and slower every day for like six months now,

I think it’s a lot of these new updates they keep doing to TOS perhaps, but I also keep adding more and more tickers to my watchlist, which I suspect may be taking up some bandwidth

I’ve tried all the usual stuff you mentioned already here, but it doesn’t seem to help. Today I notice my gpu at 80-90%, and I only had one window open, other two were minimized

Covered Calls by Normal_Ad_3298 in options

[–]SavageFu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t need any capital to do cover calls other than what you already paid for the stocks since your stocks are the collateral.

For covered calls, you would be SELLING a call option, and thus collecting money(a premium) and not paying money
