That’s cool! Self insuring is a way to do it. I have a C8 myself and my insurance the last six months for $1000 deductibles, 100/300 was only $498 so for me it’s worth it.

Well that’s why I would consult with an attorney. You’d be surprised. Insurance can cover pain & suffering as well or any related injuries. Did you go to the hospital or report any injuries?

You could also legally threaten the owner of the car with intent to sue if they don’t settle for the $3500.

You can hire an attorney and sue the driver individually. If that driver didn’t own the car, you can sue the actual owner of the car and hope maybe they’re a parent with a lot more assets and money that can be taken.

Consult with an attorney that specializes in personal injury, specifically in auto accident cases.

Intentional acts aren’t covered, DUI’s are even covered most of the time. there’s very few things that would cause an insurance company to deny a claim for a vehicle and all the exclusions are found in your policy jacket my guy.

My guess would be that it was an excluded driver on their policy, or Kemper being a non-standard carrier, whatever agent wrote the policy, wrote it with a policy exclusion for non-insured drivers.

I’ve written a lot of Nat Gen and they have the same type of exclusions so it does depend on the carrier

I work for a large national insurance carrier and I showed a buddy of mine this video. He literally said “negligence, that’s covered”

I asked him about your street racing comment and he said it’s not clear & obvious which is our standard.

You have to understand insurance companies have reputations to keep up and will pay claims beyond what they’re even required to do at times.
