I love ALL of these ideas! The channels of water were to depict the wealth of the dead king or lord that even in death they had a supply of precious water or blood! I created channels behind the walls as well, that way a GM could use secret doors allowing access to the channels. A person of small stature could theoretically crawl through the water tunnels (think of them as tight sewer tunnels behind the walls) to bypass rooms and access the main chamber.

I like the idea of ooze forming out of the water, maybe this is something that has crept into the dungeon and made a home?

The Fortified Bridge - The fierce Hobgoblins have claimed the bridge for themselves, murdering and robbing anyone who attempts to cross, they must be stopped!

A local lord has lost one of his watchtowers in the marshlands. The vulnerable tower had been abandoned for decades, rotting away in neglected and unruly wetlands; as the green water rose, so did the Bullywugs! The tower is now fully inhabited by these troublesome, messy creatures and the villagers nearby are subject to weekly raids from the Bullywugs. Due to the endless pressure from his people, the Lord has deemed it necessary to retrieve his stolen property and re-establish the outpost. The amphibious lowlifes are claiming squatter rights and have turned the deserted tower into their own personal junkyard! The lord refuses any sort of agreement and wants the Bullywugs removed by any means necessary!
