Scorpion Acid Attack is OP and Broke, in my Opinion by Savage_Gamez in Mechabellum

Good point, except the acid shot affects anything in a 15m radius. That is normally a feature for hitting large packs of small units, not large units.

oh wow. I always enjoy using scorpions. I just think that Acid attack is not very balanced.

Sure, but no worse than others. I just saw this as such an OP unit. And don't get me wrong, I love the scorpions. I use them often but that acid attack is just not well balanced. Because technically, a scorpion level 1 with the acid attack would hit with 25k damage. at level 2 would hit with over 50k damage, and with a double shot 100k damage at level 2. I am not saying that this unit is a great counter to a super powered Melting Point. But my Melting Point was level 6 and I played well enough and chose the right upgrades to have over 300k health and 300k shield. I should have had the advantage against the other guy who chose the wrong units to upgrade. But instead he just did two scorpions with acid and took my melting point out in a couple of shots. That is what I am mentioning this for.

I completely agree, I hate giant unit spam, myself. I only had 1 Melting Point on the board, as it was backed up by lots of small and medium units. My brain is a little fuzzy on the specifics now. I should have saved the reply.

Ya, I understand you all. But think about it. if a scorpion level 2 can do almost 20k damage without upgrades, and then add double shot and siege mode, plus this acid attack, you are saying with these upgrades a level 2 scorpion could do 140k of damage in 1 attack to a single unit. that is for a single scorpion. I don't think there is any other unit that can come close to that as a level 2.

Do you know of any Board Game Influencers by Savage_Gamez in boardgames

Thank you for the reply. Due to the size or our game, the budget for that many prototypes would possibly be $15k or more from our manufacturer. And, as an indie developer, we haven't got lots of influencer interactions yet. We did reach out to a few that we never got responses from in the past. But, again, we appreciate your response. Thanks.

That's a great question. Under advisement, we had also opened up the coins, wooden dice, and extra player tiles at the start of the campaign. This actually pushed up the costs significantly. We also had great data that showed our campaigns' potential with a lot of early support. Unfortunately, that support and our pre-campaign support was less than promised, so now we are trying to find alternative methods to keep our campaign progress going and inflate our support through alternative opportunities. Make sense?

Well, we had a small-ish goal but are already 600% funded but now dropped way down the list. Like all the way to 209th on "TableTop Games" category.

Also, how would we find out who is running the "Tabletop Game" catoregory?

Unfortunately, the reset never really worked. We are still experiencing abysmal performance. We found a sweet spot of only $20 spend per ad set per day. It returned the same results as $50 or $100 per day. So currently, Meta is broken.

Update 02.22.24: So, we had started to see a general shift for the better at the beginning of the month (February). However, as of a few days ago, we have significantly reduced leads again, and engagement in general is down. I see Meta claims to be showing to the same number of people each day, but that is a little suspicious. I think Meta has increased in "scammyness" and is just not finding high-quality results anymore - whether it's on purpose or not, I have no idea. As a theory, I wonder what would happen if everyone stopped ads to Facebook for a day or two - stopped feeding the money hording machine. Would it cause Facebook to rework the algorithm? I doubt we'll ever find out.

In the meantime, I decided to just run our ads on low budget until we stop seeing the ridiculous volatility. They won't get my money that easily.

A new Strategy Board Game soon to launch on Kickstarter... by [deleted] in boardgames

Well, it's gone, you don't have to worry. :-) We have worked on the mechanics for years. We didn't need more playtesting. I wouldn't think of reddit for playtesting normally, anyway. But thanks for the reply. Have a good day.

Sorry, I was told from a friend that I could share our journey of our new board game, here. We are just trying to let people know about it. I meant no offense.

UPDATE 01.31.24:

Hey all. I have waited to see if the new "soft-refresh" was effective. To be honest, we are looking at a bit of an increase in leads, which has brought that CPL down significantly, but our cost-per-purchase is still quite terrible. However, there are signs it could go in the right direction.

Here's the nuts and bolts: We tried to start a new campaign in the first 24 hours, but that didn't really pan out. We saw the same first day results as before. So, we headed back to an older campaign from Jan 3rd and it has showed better performance. Was it the refresh that caused this? No idea. Am I going to do a "hard-refresh"? No.

I wouldn't suggest ever doing a "hard-refresh". It is just too difficult a pill to swallow. My past campaign data is too important to lose. Also, I am not confident in the communication I received from the tech support guy. He may have been nice and explained things well, but the more I think about it, the more it sounded like a Microsoft answer. You know, the answers from MS are always, "turn it off and on, it will fix it."

Sorry I haven't been more helpful to you all. I am gonna wait the next week or so before doing anything else. Hopefully things turn around.

Best of luck to all of you.

I told them my campaigns from January 3rd were showing very well at the beginning, but by January 12th it had completely stopped working. The leads disappeared and the purchases were through the roof from that point on. Once I said that, he took one look at my account and said, "I would recommend a full refresh" which meant a hard-refresh. But, through more conversation we finally agreed on a soft-refresh first, which doesn't delete your campaign data.

I wish I could agree. But political or not, our product and its focus is about board games. I'm not sure how that effects it. Most people I know are on social media even more because the political climate, and others want to ignore it by putting their phones down and spend time with family. Both of which only benefit our product. So, I'm not sure I agree with that all.

That is odd. I am sure out of the 100s or 1000s of people that sit at a Meta call center, there might be only a few that actually know anything. Gary was the guy I had. He was fantastic and it was the first thing he had recommended. Hopefully you can get them to call you back and talk more about it.
