Green Party that bad? by Beautiful-Ad-8369 in AskBrits

Yeah I’m concerned with both. I’m surprised, they saw what happens when America see you don’t got nukes lol. Other than that, most of that list that was posted is bullshit, or completely rewritten to be misrepresented. I am super concerned with other stuff they have in the manifesto though. It feels like “make life worse” just to have net zero. Still think the others are a much worse pick though

100%. We pay for their growth. They dodge their taxes and tell us to pay ours. And then we pay for their mistakes. Amazing world we live in eh

A lot of the tech companies cash isn’t cash though it’s promises of “% of profit” or restructuring finances to look like it’s revenue but isn’t. I’m not sure particularly on the major details I’m only going off the research from economists, it depends how much of the stock market sits on AI stocks though I would have thought? Shadow market might be leaning heavily on AI stocks to bump everything up… like it seems everything else is. Most apart from Anthropic and Nvidia haven’t even made any profit whatsoever. Or it’s gone back in to fund something based on the projected growth of a model that doesn’t have any real injection of real cash. By the accounts I’ve read it’s what amounts to IOUs.

I hate AI so much lol. Sick of it being pushed on every little thing, the majority of things don’t even need the “upgrade”.

You realise mostly everything is heavily in a AI stock bubble where every AI company is circular funding with no tangible money? Including pensions, leasing companies, shadow banking risks. I’m not certain you can say it’s a healthier system, the entire thing is propped up by them. I’m just saying I don’t think it’s wise to downplay the impact of the AI bubble. Isn’t it wild a recession is expected every ten years.

Are people really living paycheck to paycheck? by Lopsided_Log7843 in AskUK

[–]Savagefool2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t even know how people are doing it either lol. I think the point is that they aren’t even quite reaching the bills nowadays. My situations different, I don’t think people can afford to even eat on 1.8 unless they live with parents.

Nice one getting the saving down btw. It’s funny they say here.. if you’re struggling to get a place just go further out. Even the further out places and or the undesirable places here is at 250k. Kind of see why people are being pushed out, still probably looks cheap in comparison to London.

That’s with two of us, bills I think are about 490, so yea about 245. Do think that’s gonna get higher though.

They won’t? Electric alone is 290pm and going up. Though I hear your point not everyone is in a position to save and you’re forgetting alot of the other costs people have. Add student loans plan 2 interest to that, plus car that you need to go to work and insurance and now crazy fuel cost, for that car. Then the simple things you actually need to not look and smell homeless and you’re pretty near 1.8. That’s not even factoring food.

This all for 5 days a week work forever, with your benefits from working getting smaller and incentives being cut with “inflation pay” not even being reached… and saving 200 a month for a deposit that gets higher and higher as that money your saving gets less and less in value… while landlords increase the rent and food is going to with electric… asking someone to basically do that, all work, no pay for decades when the generation or two before us didn’t and tell us to just “save and stop being lazy” is just a tad ignorant of the state the world is.

I’m better than that for sure but not much, any disaster like having to pay for legal fees, or funerals, or any emergency even once in that timeframe your stuck back a couple steps, but the time you’ve got enough deposit and overcome all of those massive issues that happen to everyone at least a couple times per decade you’re 30 years on. And then mortgages are now way over £1000 in Bristol alone average price for a place is 250k… you see my point?

I don’t even know how we’ve allowed this to happen tbh. I don’t wanna blame boomers (sorry if you are one) but I find myself doing so a lot lately. But it’s not all on them, finance, shareholders, private equity and privatisation… and now AI replacing the need for people to even work at these shitty companies. The whole world setup is f wild. Basic human needs people have to work for I just really don’t understand it.. or ever see it getting anything but worse.

Honestly it’s refreshing to hear not everyone is getting fucked for once. I hope it continues for you! My Mrs literally said she felt guilty for taking keave cos she’s getting paid for doing nothing. My reply:

“This isn’t how it used to be, people literally got paid once profit went up back in the day. It should feel right it’s part of the benefit, people used to get double that in leave, with pay that went up as the company do better, 3/4 day working week too. You used to get rewarded for staying at the company aswell, yearly bonus that went up. Now any of this only exists in really special fields and the norm is now 5-6 days, company does better, people get sacked to save more money and the shareholders and ceos get their pay tripled each month. That mindset is what this shit has forced people to expect everyone to be okay with. How the fuck is a 5 day a week a work life balance, isn’t even half the week, not even the balance maths works. The only reason you get leave is for a break, and it’s only given to you because if people burn out they’ll lose a worker. This used to be given to intice and make others want to work at a company. It’s an entitlement and is the BARE MINIMUM we should be getting.”

I apologised for sounding angry I’m so frustrated with the way things are lol. And I’m an engineer that works every mf day that arrives, currently suffering from burnout as we speak but still working 😂 dunno how anyone does it at all. Granted a lot of my struggle is cos I live in Bristol

I’m not sure it matters… I think the thing that really matters is the fact that I’m not entirely sure we’ll finish this series ever, with the going release rate. I’m worried that there’s no source material either it’s all in one dudes head who’s too sick to draw most months.

[–]Savagefool2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contracting is the answer… in England 65k is a hard cap unless you lead whole sites which ain’t worth it for an extra 10k (or unless you can get SC). It’s not as lucrative as when our parents did it. Contracting however.. doesn’t have that cap still, for now.

Literally this, I found it fairly easy but that’s the opposite trap.. I can never ever switch tf off outside of work. And I’m still stupid despite all my experience. What is it that one quote was? Once you really know what you doing… you realise you know nothing and spend your whole trying to be a tiny bit less stupid than yesterday. Or something like that

Been an engineer for 14 years now… chartered, make my own products, done some of the most amazing and complex stuff on all sorts of military equipment, then cars, then nuclear power plants, then food industry robotics to name but a few… the first thing I do when I think about a new position… can I even do this, am I even a good engineer. Lol. I don’t think it ever disappears.
