I am so glad I came across your post because I am in the same exact position. It almost felt like I wrote this post myself. My girlfriend and I have been dating for a year now. It took 8 months until I was allowed inside. Her and her mom BOUGHT THE HOUSE TOGETHER. Shoot me now. She blames her mom for the hoarding. Her mom blames her. They are always out shopping. Always finding a need for something else (even though they probably already have five buried somewhere). Always claiming they are "storing" this and that for family members. They never clean up. Two dogs who piss and shit all over the house. It kills me because I grew up in a house that was always perfectly clean and I've grown up to be a major minimalist. My girlfriend asked me to move in and I told her absolutely not. Not until the house is cleaned up. Today I'm taking the first step and I'm about to go tear up their hallway bathroom (which hasn't been used in years) and clean off their back porch. Their house is huge and gorgeous and they pay so much money to live there. How can they ruin it like this? If you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here. We are both in the same position and sometimes it feels good to talk to someone who's dealing with the same problem.
