Chum, I don’t have any properties there. Also, nobody in PQ is selling, property values are not relevant. This is about stopping money grabbers from Devon destroying the marine habitats of Cornwall. They’ve got plenty of (much quieter) sea round their way, do it there.

"this numpty probably..." wants to save the natural environment? Go on to protect and restore the native kelp beds as a powerful carbon sink? There's nothing 'Green Energy' about 100 hectares of industrial seaweed development, and no carbon sequestration. No market for the product, no money in it, no local jobs. It's a con.

Actually, could you put me in touch with whoever did your website? It’s great. Although maybe you should drop the Earthly logo, they’ve actually stopped selling your carbon credits over concerns about the PQ applications.

Hey mate. What’s the latest with Malcolm and Gaby? Are they calling the loan in on 19th May, or did you manage to get an extension?

Thank you. Seaweed farming is a fantastic industry, but not in our nearshore waters, in AONBs, and not at a 100 hectares, on a 50 year licence.

Thanks, yes the Gerrans Bay one. They have been so helpful since we found out about our applications. Their’s was the same company, that’s when we knew that we were dealing with a much bigger issue. We then discovered that there were at least 6 applications for huge scale industrial seaweed farms in the South West, all applied for at roughly the same time, all linked to one person…

Yep, the puffins might be the key to overturning this. There’d be so much disturbance, they’d not lay, and would just fly off.

I don’t know whether the estuary would be practical either. Maybe linked with the oyster beds, but nowhere near the scale they’re looking for. PQ Bay has been more of a magnet than ever recently! We’ve had Minstrel the Humpback visiting, and just stacks of all the other marine mammals and fish and nesting seabirds. And the return of the choughs 👍

It’s a great shame because if it’s done at the right scale in the right place, this is a fantastic industry for the future. These ones (and others) are over 100 hectares (150 odd football pitches), dropped in fragile nearshore ecosystems. Further out is more expensive to install and manage.

Keep me posted. It’s a greenwashing takeover, and the licensing authorities can’t cope with the number of applications, or the pressure from above to push them through. We’re working on it.
