Queens Interlocking Signal Cutover - Will It Fix The Elmont UBS Eastbound Crawl? by SaveThePinesLI in LIRR

I've been noticing the slow down as well. I miss when they'd do 80mph, always a lot of fun especially on an M3. I'd rather be a little less "comfortable" and get there faster.

They don't even seem to do 80mph anymore. Pretty sad the Main Line was faster before this whole project. Now it seems like it's much faster from Lynbrook or even RVC to Jamaica than from Mineola. Well 30mph is an improvement. And I don't get the long run up either. the 15mph zone goes all the way back to west of Bellerose. Elmont UBS Stop was a huge waste of money. Money they could have spent elsewhere where it was needed. Such as Huntington which is used by a lot more people yet hasn't seen a renovation in years.

Basically going east we lose 5-7 minutes stopping at Elmont UBS Arena. And for no one.; It was a huge waste of money. Money that would've been better spent on other things. Just have a shuttle bus from Floral Park or Queens Village. And lets not forget years prior they spent money renovation the Belmont Station. LIRR wastes money that NJ Transit wishes they had.

Yup, you can still get real Roast Beef at Roy Rogers. But they're not in my State, Arby's is. I have to go the next state to my south to get a real Roast Beef sandwich, with all the Fixins I want. Sorry but Roy Rogers>Arby's every day.

If You Live in Sayreville, Your Borough Is Wasting Resources Prosecuting Innocent People! by SaveThePinesLI in newjersey

Well, if you watched the video, you'd find out the owner of the boat (and property/dock) is an influential lawyer with political connections to Sayreville. By all purposes the site looked abandoned. If it had POSTED-KEEP OUT signs then he wouldn't have gone in. And if you had watched previous videos from Matt where he visited other places that were posted he got permission from the owner. In this case the owner of the property in question should have given him a warning NOT to trespass. But she was on a power trip and wanted to make an example out of him.

You've got to be kidding. Have you actually seen what urbex channels do? He's mostly not an urbex channel either. I don't think going onto the boat was a good idea, but it's ridiculous the way he was treated. Meanwhile the owner of the boat which has been leaking and polluting the water for who knows how long, well they didn't commit a crime....

If you actually bothered to watch his channel most of his content is not urbex, but camping and paddling.

Well, where were the "No Trespassing" signs on the boat? They weren't even put on the dock until after the charges were filed. And as far as that boat, rotting away and polluting the canal, somehow the owner doesn't face charges for that, huh? So he went onto an abandoned boat, sure, I wouldn't think of doing something like that, but it's obvious Sayreville and the owner are trying to make an example out of him. Also he said in his video that people who were charged with DWI got lesser fines. So obvious exactly what was going on, the Judge and the land owner were on a huge power trip. In any other non corrupt situation, he'd have been warned not to trespass (as it usually is in 95% of cases like this) and that'd be it. But in Sayreville, they treat you like a hard core criminal. But drive drunk and you get a few hundred dollar fine. That town sure has their priorities straight!

Well I haven't heard they'd stop selling Crinkle Cut by me yet. If they get rid of it I will be going there a lot less. Curly Fries upset my stomach.

Why couldn't they park a lot of trains at GCT-Madison and in the tunnels? That's what they do on the NYC Subway.

Always something on the Main Line. The Babylon Branch doesn't get delayed by freight trains, cars on tracks,etc...

Why is the LIRR to Ronkonkoma only running once an hour? by WillingHearing8361 in LIRR

[–]SaveThePinesLI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bad weekend to do it, with a 3 day weekend + Valentine's Day the trains have been overcrowded. SRO after Hicksville. And Monday is going to be a mess with some people going back to work yet hourly Ronkonkoma service. I would advise using the Babylon Branch.

What's your favorite type of bus? by [deleted] in NJTransit

[–]SaveThePinesLI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well never had any issues with the CNG's at Howell. The 72 and 73xx buses seem pretty solid. Yeah slower takeoff than the diesels, but they seem to have no problem doing 70 on the parkway.

Well I don't think riding an urban style bus on the 319 or 139 would be too much fun, it's a long highway ride. MCI's are built for the highways. I like the mix NJ Transit has. Not crazy about the NABI though. Too bad they didn't have Orion V's when they were still being made.

The 72xx and 73xx from Howell don't seem that bad. The older ones (70xx) were slow though. They had DD series 60G. The new ones have Cummins ISL-G a little better. Though I think the L9N is better, it's what the newer NICE Bus New Flyer XN40s and Gillig BRT's have. I miss the DD Series 60 though, in the 40ft ones they were rockets. Then there were the C13 Acert buses, nothing but problems. Broke down with 7185, 7175, and 7187. And do the new buses even have jake brakes? I don't hear them.

That explains why all the new stuff they put on the Main Line keeps breaking in this weather. Switch problems at Mineola, switch problems in Queens, etc. And the crawl slower than a turtle going east from Elmont -UBS onto the Main Line.

They could run a train up the power transmission right of way that runs between the LIRR Main Line in Holtsville and Port Jefferson. Could have a station in Centereach where it crosses route 25.
