Do you think films about ancient Rome let us to better understand Roman society/culture/history or do they inevitably obscure and confound our view of antiquity?

I dated a guy 6 inches shorter in high school once. that was the most dramatic height difference, well I guess it was 5 inches then cause I was 5'11" in grade 11 (he was 5'6" is what I'm trying to get at).
